Any of that number on this board? If so do you have details of any local clubs and what periods / systems they play.

Any specific system?

I used to be a Warhammer/ Warhammer 40,000 player but now i just play Games Workshop's range of specialist games

I'd quite like to get into Iron Kingdoms or the Confrontation series though, lovely miniatures!

Not actively playing nowadays due to other activities, but used to be seriously in to Seven Years War, WW2, ACW and 'Ancient'. Avoided the Napoleonic period.

Also did some skirmish gaming based around Samurai Japan and the 'Traveller' RPG. And some board wargaming.

Mainly played with 15mm, 25mm or 1/300.

Rules were either homebrew, WRG or whatever was lying around at the time! I was ver interested in umpiring and developing games rules and scenarios as well.

I also did the odd campaign by mail, etc. in my youth, but that was many moons ago.

Thinking of starting a society?

There's a big university society - I don't know much about it as I'm more of a roleplaying type, but they have lots of non-uni members. they should be at the freshers' bazaar on 24th Sept if you're interested...

My favorites games are Warhammer Quest, Advanced Heroquest and the original Heroqest (my girlfriend bought it for me for christmas the first year we were together aaahhh, back in 1991) and its still in perfect condidtion.

Although I have been enjoying Lord of the Rings Risk at the moment.

MERP, wow that brings back memories. Magic using hobbits always worried me though. I was more of a Call of Cthulhu man.

You could try L.A.W.G for live action war games over the net.

Ooohh..... Call of Cthulu!

A blast from the past....

Those games certainly taught you how to pronounce words lacking vowels... :)

Oh, I've played M.E.R.P. and it's big brother 'Role Master' ... along with D&D, AD&D, Runequest, Traveller ... and loads of wargaming stuff ... have loads of metal figures lying around somewhere too .. used to love painting them.

So where did everyone play? I used to dabble with wargames with the Sheffield Wargames Society above the Wellington pub if I remember rightly. We did most of our RPG campaigns with RuneLords at the Victoria pub at Neepsend.

Btw, anyone remember the old RPG Man, Myth & Magic? That game was really dire but it was that and D&D that got me into role playing. Having said that, I was never that keen on D&D either. It racks up serious nostalgia points though. Pendragon was always good for a laugh.

D&D has been updated and rereleased recently (completely rewritten AD&D effectively, but back to the style of D&D).
