I'm about to start taking driving lessons, and I just wondered if anyone can help me out with any general advice or info. For example, should I take two hour lessons or one? How many lessons on average does it take before you're fully up to scratch? Any help or experiences you can share would be most welcome.
Ta!
I took two hours, too be honest I feel I got more out of it.. I used to have 4 hours a week on average..
No way of saying how long it will take you to get upto scratch, depends how you adapt to the driving life :D
Good luck

As Deejay has said, no-one can say it will take 'x' hours to get to test standard - some things you will pick up fairly quickly, others may take some time. But on average, double your age for a very rough guide as to the number of hours you will need. Also don't expect to be passed very quickly - before you can book a driving test you need to pass your theory test (waiting times about 3 weeks) then there is a waiting list of about 14/16 weeks at the Sheffield test centres, and don't forget we are coming in to the bad weather very shortly when tests can be cancelled by the DSA.
I usually suggest that when people start driving, they take one hour lessons as there is an awful lot of information to take in. Nothing to stop you taking more than one hour a week but don't try to do too much at once. Then once you've grasped the basics, you might want to step it up to 2 hours at a time (certainly no more in one session).
If you want further general information, take a look at my website. Remember anyone on this Forum contacting me by PM to book lessons will get the student rate.

i did 2-3 hours a week, in single hour sessions. to be honest, after an hour your knuckles will be white and you'll be glad that it's over, 2 hours is just too long imo. after you've had a few lessons, you might want to go out with a parent / partner / friend / etc. to get some experience, without paying extortionate fees, just make sure you don't pick up any bad habits!
good luck!

hey Saxon - a little tip - resize your images before you use them in your website, don't rely on specifying sized in the html - the image http://www.horizonschoolofmotoring.co.uk/images/more%20web%20pictures%20002.jpg on this page -> http://www.horizonschoolofmotoring.co.uk/halloffame.php is actually over a meg, and hence is slow to load, even on broadband!
