Fingercuffs even redited a post of his I quoted and accused me of missing out the bit he'd added subsequently, I did re-edit post but to correct a typo in my text, not to remove the part of quote that wasn't there in first place. So lying to cover up weak arguments is what it has come down to. Kind of pathetic really. The half wit doesn't even get my name right.

yea, but you're not a new starter are you, and i wasn't referring to bjj, i was referring to local clubs and the friendly and mature attitude displayed by posters on here, for example making :loopy: gestures in reference to a post that wasn't aimed specifically at you...let me know which club you train at, just so as i know to avoid it :shakes:

most of the propagandering has been done on behalf of (although apparently not by) GB, and for quite a while from what i can gather - maybe someone from there could say if there numbers on the mat have risen as a result of unconnected people vouching for them?

i know the lads from RG and i saw there fights, i have the up most respect for mark and the boys who enter, i've done it my self and i will openly say.... i wouldn't do it again, because its not my cup of tea......

no one actually said 'best' for performance, they simply said 'best', but not 'best' for what (i.e. performance, self-defence, teahing abiloty, 1-2-1 tuition) 'best' is highly subjective...chump...sorry, champ...:hihi:

if everyone faced each other in a competition, you'd know who was the best on that given day - if there was a series of competitions you'd probably have a more acurate idea, but without that, you'd be looking at one of the purple belts i would imagine...a purple belt indicates (in my opinion), excellent ability on the mat...

Yeah, have some competitions. Interclub things. Be good to dispel some of these rivalry things (such as they are) and have a good time.

Having rolled with most of them and seen them in various competitions, my money would be on either BJJMAN, TrueBJJ or Mr Cuffs.

Theres no need for any of them to fight, I think everyone from which ever club would agree with this and there is no need to drag this out that much.

But if u measure it on how often they get their butt whupped in thier clubs i bet the guys from GB get beat more, as you would rolling with Black Belts!!

not just the blackbelt instructor, it's the overall quality of the class, so unless everyone from donny travelled down...

It seems apparent that despite earlier protestations, most of the people who post on this forum are members of GB Sheffield or freinds of, as most of you all seem to know each other, so there's so much club bias and lack of objectivity that it's really not worth listening to most of you, and quite frankly, it makes GB SHeffield appear underhand and untrustworthy. i won't be able to train at the Royce club, so it looks like i'll be travelling further afield for BJJ, cos i definitely wouldn't train with GB Sheffield having seen there antics on here (or is it mostly there 'friends'? either way, you might get more on the mat if you packed it in - you all obviously think it makes you look like a good club, but the tribalism and bias makes you seem ridiculous and unwelcoming)- funny how people seem so different at seminars and comps....

Basically, what you should do is ... Understand the fact that this is the internet and people will enjoy ribbing each other. But sometimes it is nice to go out into the real world. I think you'll find that if you go on any other forum on the internet you will see banter happening as it breaks up a dull day at work to have a little fun on t'internet. Dont take it all so personally. I think you will find that most people are pretty decent in real life. Check out this thread for instance, i got offered a free holiday. How cool is that?!

I've probably been one of the more outspoken and have essentially said that both clubs are very good, although I have ventured an opinion, which I stand by, that the technical standard is probably better at Gracie Barra. It's quite possible that the fitness training, for example, is better at the Royce Gracie club (the people I've known from this club have been very fit, although then again they cross-trained and were active fighters so would have to be).

Wouldn't want to give the wrong impression of Gracie Barra as with all other considerations out of the window, it's in the top 3 friendliest training environments of all the clubs I've known (which is quite a lot of clubs).

and it has (arguably) the best POUND FOR POUND fighter!!! ;)

but don't you need to weigh at least a pound before you can be classed as the best pound for pound fighter ? :hihi:

If you don't want to come down and train with us that's fine. Its up to you. But in no way has anyone been tribalistic. There is gonna be bias - just the way there is whenever Chefkicker comes on and shouts the praises of AFK. He is entitled to. Does it make him tribalistic though? NO. If anyone has ever asked me for a place to train when they can't make it to ours i've RECOMMENDED RGJJ. Because they are a great bunch of guys and they have fun training.

What you see on here with us all taking the mick out of each other is exactly what happens in the gym (with a lot less farting).

I like to think of us all as a bunch of mates who get together a couple of times a week and beat each other up.

Stop taking it so seriously mate, its not intended that way by anyone.

You know i have never met Bjjman , ive met barragergus and have sat with and commentated (and always do enjoy commentating with him) Truebjj (jon from Gracie) , and think hes a smashing fella but i will say the following:

Jeez, you've got some issues.

I'm not bias to GB at all. In the past I've probably trained at GB and RGJN the same amount of time, although I do prefer GB now with the BB classes. And before that I used to train with Andy Roberts at CastleBBA before my trip to the states. If there were any other BJJ club in Sheff I'd also give them a go too.

And I can assure you I'm not want2learn :) Why would I ask about BJJ clubs when I'm already aware of those in and around Sheffield ?

Come along to one of the beginners classes if you like or even to a Friday session.
Friday we do 2 classes, 6-7pm or 7-830pm. 6-7pm is an open session where I wil be available for a bit of pad holding with you and to show you a few basic boxing drills (youre kicking should probably be quite good seeing your background). As for amateur tournaments, I promote a few of them so the opportunity is there.
