It appears that they have taken a leaf out of Mr Brown's TV licenece scam.

They pledged to give all pensioners over the age of 75 an increase of £25 per week to their state pensions, by which time a large majority will have passed away.

I think the Tories can do much better. How about £250 per week increase to state pensions for all pensioners over the age of 135 years of age?

There must be enough dimwit voters around who are also obtuse enough to buy tower bridge.

So why is ths a dupe? Accorgin to the new last night there are now over a million people in the UK over the age of 85 so its hardly the case that no-one would benefit? From the link it says its an increase in the basic pension to reduce the need for means tested extras and aimed to help the most vulnerable - seems a fairly laudable idea to me...

A report in 2002 put the average lifespan of a man in the UK at 75 and a woman at 79.9 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1977733.stm) so its hardly the case that a large majority will have passed away by age 75 is it?
