Just heard on the grapevine that Golden Wonder are going to bring back RINGOS. For the younger members they are a circular corn crisp that looked a bit like a thin battered onion ring and tasted a bit like a nik-nak.

As we are lazy gits in our office we spent the morning working out which snaks we would like to see back on the shelves and came up with our top 7 in no particular order:

1. Pacers (green & white soft minty things)
2. Bones crisps (like outer spacers but shaped like bones)
3. Texan Bars (caused more buck teeth than any other bar)
4. the bar with peanuts stuck on the outside?
5. Iced gems (but I think you can still get them)
6. Moon dust (a retro classic)
7. Toffos (original not fruity flavours)

Can you add any retro snack to the list ?

This needs to go in General chat, not Sheffield chat....any mods out there?

I don't remember them tasting anything like a nik-nak. The texture is all different.

get "puffs" back on the market

tasted great and nice and cheap

i still love my Space Raiders
but miss the stories on the back

Yes they were fantastic crisps if you ate a few bags they would flavour your burps all day

Puffs were quite good but were very messy.

Pickled onion Space Raiders were good also, never noticed the stories though.

What happened to the Toasted Cheese flavour that Walkers crisps used to do?

What about Cadburys Secret bars? They were kind of gooey, creamy marshmallow covered in threads of milk chocolate. Lovely!! And Montego's? If I rememeber they were sort of rum and raisiny chocolatey bars!

My retro choc bar - NO ONE will remember this - it was same size/shape as a mars bar, I think cadbury or roundtree, and called
'AZTEC'
And 'Curly Wurlies' - used to pull your fillings out, no problem :D

'Black jacks' and 'fruit salads' 'flying saucers, - would dissolve in your mouth and leave a fizzy sensation. Licorice root, lucky bags:D

Aztec's made a comeback about 4 years ago, they were nice too :(

My all time fave snacks from the past are:

Hedgehog Flavour crisps
PROPER beefy monster munch
Ringos crisps
ViseVersas (which ive seen recently!! :D)

I remember at the time (original Aztec) very short lived, a few months, I think.
Sounds same with the 'comeback' - Azteks where just not meant to be..:D

first things first though.

I want a MARATHON bar and a packet of OPAL FRUITS!!!

loads of retro sweets can be found at www.aquarterof.com it's not cheap but it's the only place you can get some of the stuff.
