View Full Version : Best/worst football kits
trophyman 09-09-2004, 12:36 everyone has got to have thier favourite and least favourite football kits of all time. mine has got to be:
best: real madrid home kit 2002/2004
worst: sheff wed away kit 1986/88 (silver and purple)
so many to mention i aint got enough time!!!!!!!!!!!
FairyNormal 09-09-2004, 14:00 The new SUFC away kit is vile!! My kids wouldn't be seen dead in it! It's an awfull flourecent orange colour and is absolutely hideous!!
trophyman 09-09-2004, 14:03 got to agree it is awful. im an owls fan but i must say united have had some nice kits over the years but this one is, as you say, vile. it must be on par or worse than thier home kit last season. now the new one for this season is nice. better than our horrid home kit.
I can vaguely remember England having a horrible kit in the late eighties early nineties.....

Are you referring to the red, white and blue one?
Now that was a lousy kit.
Could never understand why there was blue on it at all. There was very little red if I remember correctly.
United's present away kit is revolting. Their best ever away kit was last season's. Smart and businesslike.
And what's with the United badge on the away kit? It's orange!!
:loopy:
wasn't there a song in the charts performed by the team - I remember something about Red, white and blue...

I think it was red white and blue.... I can only vaguely remember cause I was only just starting school in the early nighties....
Isn't this the era when England's following (or the less intelligent ones) used to wave Union Flags even when they were playing against Scotland or Wales?
One of the worst must have been Coventry City's chocolate brown away kit some years ago!

lol that always makes me laugh!
See if the same occurs when we play wales next month!
What about that Man Utd kit where the players could not see each other.
lol which one was that?!?!
They've had so many different kits I can't think which!
Robbie Loving 09-09-2004, 22:51 the old yellow united kit was great
i dont mind the new one either.....
worse one??
our old yellow and purple one

If I remember rightly I think it was grey. I think the players complained that they couldn't see each other at half time and then changed kits for the second half. It was all over the press and I remember walking through meadowhall on a busy day and bumping into someone wearing this top. I said "sorry I didn't see you there mate" :D
It was the grey kit, and the match was away at Southampton. They lost 6-3. Full of useless info me!
Robbie Loving 10-09-2004, 07:05 yeah and then they changed there kit to the white one for the rest of the season
and offered fans who had the grey one a measly £10 off the white one
trophyman 10-09-2004, 07:48 the wednesday one with the green hoops (1988/90) was a bad un (even tho my mum bought me the full kit for school).
the best wednesday away kit was the one from the promotion season in 90/91 (yellow and sky blue).
remember huddersfield having the draughts board checkered blue and white strip. was funny cos they lost to man city 10-0 in it.
remember brighton playing at hillsborough in the 90/91 season. thier away kit was PINK!!!!!!!!
I remember something about croatia's kit in France 98, something about the commentators complaining that they couldn't see the number on the back cause of the checkered kit.
emmwalker 10-09-2004, 15:12 the boro away kit of a couple seasons ago- purple and white was particulary vile, and the england goalie kit from euro 2000 was disgusting (as many colours as they fit in one garment!!!). the best kit is always gonna be the hoops!

Arsenal always seem to have good kits.
Man Utd **** me off with their kits, about 4 different away shirts per season
The hull city tiger print kit from 92 is the definate winner of worst kit for me. Not sure about the best though.
worst united kit..the red and white diamonds 95/96 (looked like a set of power rangers)
best the lime green florescent away kit 89ish

That chelsea one is foul! lol I'm glad I wasn't really watching football then!
I hated the yellow with pin stripes Owls away shirt a few years back.
And that horrible period where Wednesday and United shirts were pin stripes.. what on earth was going on there?
Never liked the United shirt with the one thick stripe down the middle circa 78ish?
HATED Owls shirt the last year in the Premier (a bit like now) with the solid blue back - STRIPES EVERYTIME!!! Never got on with the horrible Puma king kit with blue shorts and white socks. I wish they'd stick to the traditional combinations. Owls - Blue and White stripes/black shorts/blue socks. United - Red and White stripes/white shorts/white socks?

Don't you remember the 98-90 season with the geen and yellow away kits, i'm sure there was a white one in similar style to them aswell. Have to put them in the best we had.
As for the worst, that would be any international kit made by nike at the moment as the are just all the same design with different colours.

My hubby (an Owls fan) thinks the Puma Sanderson away strip, almost all black with thin yellow stripes, was their best one. He still has his and wears it occasionally. He can't quite get to grips with my team's shirt - Exter City - as they play in red & white stripes, but then I hate it when he wears that stupid shirt with the big Chupa Chups thing on it. Its embarrassing.
He did get his own back when we were on holiday and visited Barcelona. Apparently, Chupa Chups is a Barcelona company and one of the main sponsors/directors of Barcelona FC. They loved his shirt over there.
Worst shirt ever - Celtic's (and Yeovil Towns's). I hate emerald green and it's so old fashioned. Oh, and Harchester's horrible purple. What do you mean they're not real!!!
carcrash 18-10-2004, 15:48 The chuba chups logo was designed by Salvator Dali.
He should have stuck to painting.
Can't resist this........ Chupa Chups, easily licked!!
SORRY;)
lol shame on you Markham, don't you know that saying tears us wednesday fans up inside at the shame of having such a ******** sponser :P
carcrash 26-10-2004, 09:05 Salvador Dali designed the Chupa Chubs logo. It was the only logo he ever designed and one of the few commercial undertakings he ever did.
