Hi
Could anyone recommend a good letting agent. I am considering renting my house out, to see how it goes but not sure who to contact. Its the first time I have ventured down this road.
Thank you peeps.
have a wander down Campo Lane in the centre of town there are loads down there.
I rent so I can't give any recommendations.
My advice would be to avoid Crapper & Haigh if you are a prospective tenant (if you ever want your bond back that is (long story short - carpets professionally cleaned, provide C&H with receipt, they debit bond by amount they claim they had to spend getting carpets cleaned (which they didn't do))).
If you're a landlord I don't know how good they are.

I second that. After a horrific tenanting experience with Crapper & Haigh, I will never ever deal with them again. Luckily we knew the landlady of the property we were renting - apparently they tried to rip her off as well (putting our rent up without informing her).
I'm just in the process of letting a house from Mike Jolly Estates. So far they seem ok. As a landlord I'd probably go to them initially, they only do letting it's not just an add on to an estate agents.

You could try Norrow Estates (http://www.norrow.co.uk). I don't have any experience with renting from/letting with them, but I know the proprietors and they're honest guys who won't mess you around or rip you off.

Thank you very much for your comments. I will now have a better idea where to start my enquiries (and where not to go).
Cheers peeps.

avoid blundells like the plague - there has been a forum thread before about them - the majority agreed.

We have rented from Fairways for the last 2 years. Although they don't have the widest selection of properties, they have been excellent to deal with, friendly, accommodating and sorted out any problems quickly and without argument

just to say we rent with c+h and so far have had no problems, they always organise repairs quickly and don't charge and were v.good when we were burgled, they also seem happy to negotiate a new contract for us too.

Seems things don't change. We've just been ripped off by them when we moved out, charging us a fortune for cleaning which didn't need doing, and not even giving us the chance to go round there and do it ourselves (obliviously as we'd left the place spotless this wouldn't have taken long). They have since persistently lied and procrastinated their way out of paying us this money back. The most annoying thing is that we left the place cleaner than when we moved in and they have the nerve to charge us for extra unnecessary cleaning without even checking it with us first.
It should also be pointed out they stung us for £80 every 6 months to "draw up a new lease" i.e. change the dates and photocopy it. Hardly a true reflection of the cost and one suspects barely legal.
I would avoid them with at all costs

Isn't this just slightly the wrong forum section?
