Hey
I have been offered a job in sheffield and so am looking for somewhere to rent. The problem is i dont no the area.
I was just wondering if ppl knew what areas are nice in sheffield and also which ones to stay away from.
Afew properties i have seen are in the S2 area but they seem quite cheap compared to others does anyone know why?

Parts of S2 fall under council estates. So the properties you've seen may be ex-council, still in the middle of an estate. Perhaps the reason?

Hi

It would give us a clue if you tell us :

Where are you now?
(City/town and suburb)

Where is work or uni in Sheffield?

How old are you?

Deepak

if you're working near the station you could look at the areas that allow you to get to work by train (or tram ;) )

If you give us an idea of your level of work or salary we may be able to help you find the right area better ;)

do you have kids or pets? do you want to be in the thick of city life or somewhere quiet? are you looking for a houseshare with instant company or somewhere to escape the rest of the world of an evening?

i was looking at renting up 2 about 500 a month. Dont really want to be in the city centre although the apartments are nice.Ideally i would like to be near the peaks in a nice village but able to commute but i imagin that would be expensive and i dont really no where to start lookng for property out there.Just want somewhere quiet really but easy to commute

I hav a partner so not looking to house share but have no kids or pets.

if you're working near the station you might want to consider S8 (Meersbrook and Woodseats). There are a good few buses that will take you in to town from both areas and you'll be south of the city so a 20min drive to the peaks. I live in Meersbrook and its really nice, quiet and has a lovely park. Its cheap (well cheaper than s11 etc) aswell. We rent a 2 (and a half) bed house for £500 pcm which i think is really good value. Woodseats is probably better if you want to be within walking distance of shops etc and it'll be the same prices rent wise maybe a spot cheaper. hope this helps.

also, you mentioned dore (and totley) - both are very nice but you wont necessarily get as much value for money unless you're really lucky. you will be nearer the peaks though.

do you know any good letting agents that have properties in those areas. Its difficult to know where to start looking when you dont live in the area urself

My housemate and myself are currently trying to find new tenants for our apartment, as we're moving closer to where we work. Its in the S8 area, just off london Road, £530pm, really nice and modern and the neighbours are all really nice - let me know if you'd like to know more!

Not at the moment sorry, am at the parents house at the moment so can't even take any! Basically its a split level, large living room with laminate flooring, good sized bathroom with shower, modern kitchen, and 2 large bedrooms on the top floor. The full ads on sheffield gumtree, i think its the 1st ad on properties to let as i've just updated it.
