I need a copy of my birth certificate. Does anyone know how much they cost, how long they take, do I have to order it etc? Also, do I still go to the old 'Wedding cake' register office or has it moved somewhere else now?

Thanks

the register office has moved, it is now situated in the town-hall. I believe that you can get any and all of the services etc, there that you got at the "wedding cake" building

The "wedding cake" building is shut down, and will be demolished as part of the redevelopment of that area.

HTH?

I wondered what they was doing!! I got off the bus there the other day and it was all fenced off and it said "the registrar office is shut" or something like that...

any idea what they're planning on doing with that land then?

You can go in and order them, they don't take much longer than a week I don't think.

If memory serves me correctly it was about £7.50 for a copy birth certificte. May have gone up slightly not sure.

Can Sheffield process this even if you weren't born in Sheffield?

No you have to apply to the central registrar or the town registry office of where you were born.
Great fun if you were born overseas this lol

That big white crane towering above it might give you a clue. If I'm not mistaken then it's the new hotel that's being built there.

I'm more than a little scared by the height of that crane. If the building is going to be that tall then it's going to make that area much less open, and it'll completely block the view of the town hall from where the Yorkshire Grey is now.
