Sat. afternoon I thought I'd visit the Art Show in the Botanical Gardens.
I was met at the Thompson Road entrance by uniformed security persons who refused admittance on the grounds of Health & Safety.

"The Scottie Gallery in association with Sheffield City Council is organising an annual juried Art Competition & Exhibition taking place at SHEFFIELD BOTANICAL GARDENS on 4th and 5th September 2004, the event is set to be the largest event of this kind in the North!
Adults £2.50, accompanied children free."
I realise this was an imaginative & exciting event, but it is a shame it meant the barring of Sheffield ratepayers from enjoying FREE access to their park on one of the sunniest weekends of a dismal year.
People were turning up prepared to have picnics, & meet friends, only to be turned away if not prepared to pay.
