Anyone got any tips on where to go in Sheff for replacement floorboards?

There's the obvious major timber shops but I'm wondering if there are any little (cheaper) stores that sell individual boards for patching up floors?

I would try Mc Clures out at Wales. They have a good selection of stuff there and his prices arent bad either.

We used to go to Lavers on Chesterfield rd but theyre getting dearer with every visit.

You might find though that you will struggle to get wide boards. The only stuff Ive seen is metric and this is smaller than the most common 'old' boards you find in Sheffield. This newer stuff tends to lie at about 4.5' so for the the wider 6' boards youve got to put a peice in

There used to be a place at Pitsmoor called White's Demolition. They sold reclaimed floorboards in the old imperial sizes but I'm not sure if they're still there.

There is a place just near the city centre, based with Cott-age workshops, on Garden Street (?) I think. They have a good sized store of reclaimed wood and you may find what you want there. Sorry I can't be more specific, but after 6 weeks of school holidays, my brains have turned to mush!!

Good luck searching. I tried Cottage/Woodsave for floorboards three months ago. They said they had a few but nothing like the several square metres I was after. I gave up in the end and used chipboard loft flooring. Now I keep an eye out when walking past skips for the odd board I can rescue to store for the next patch job.

There is a (apprently) cheap place in Brightside on the road to Meadowhell. It's after the pub and Tiles place.

Whites on Abbeyfield Rd usually have loads of floorboarding (plus the nails) and in good condition at a reasonable price

You could try Smiths on Chambers Lane off Upwell Street opposite the Sheffield Arms pub.

They are a good source. Didn't know it was still going. Don't expect 'of the counter' though - have a wade around the yard and find it your self from the 'heaps' good fun:thumbsup:

Your right RoyalRegular about Whites Demolation. They are off Burngreave Road if it is still there.
