View Full Version : Emo Hairdressers????
I'm sure this topic has been done before, ive done a search but nothing came up.
Can anyone recommend a good Emo hairdressers in Sheffield,my son has been growing his hair and wants to get it styled this weekend but it has to be a particular style
fox20thc 30-11-2006, 17:15  Surely if he knows how he wants it he just tells the hairdresser.
My son is going through this dirty black roots and white tips/stuck my finger in a socket look. He just tells his hairdresser how much to cut and where.
i think someone had a thread like this a few weeks back and im sure hair by christmas in broomhill was mentioned as a good alt one plus one on infirmary road(?) maybe. I don't think theres any 'emo' hairdressers as such but it'd be a good little niche in the market up division street
Thanks Munch ive just called Hair by Christmas and made an appointment. They sound like they know what im talking about!
bensonhedges 30-11-2006, 17:28 Hair by Christmas are excellent for more "off the wall" styles - they put excellent dreadlocks in for me a few years back.
Ah, the youth of today. In my (goth) day we cut/coloured/destroyed our own hair. They don't know they're born :)

Luxury.
We were lucky if we even grew hair on the diet we could afford.

He's only 12 so this is more of a damage limitation exercise!

blaupraust 02-12-2006, 11:13 I don't understand why anyone would want an emo haircut..
Hair by Christmas are great! I've been going there for years. They have a website if anyone wants more info.

hevydevy 05-12-2006, 04:33 Anywhere that does women's hair should be able to do a lovely emo cut I'd imagine.
Shana_Rawwr 24-08-2008, 17:54 Could I ask where Hair by Christmas is ?
Or if they have a website could I get a link ?
I hate all the hairdressers I've been to, and I seriously want
a new, different hairstyle... I'm TIRED of the same old, same old
They always cut my hair wrong !
It drives me mad,

sixriver 24-08-2008, 20:41 a quick google later;
Hair By Christmas
207 Whitham Rd, Sheffield, S10 2SP
icehockeyjoe 24-08-2008, 21:19 There is another good place on Infirmary Road opposite Tesco, name escapes me at the moment.
Run by Elton who also used to runa hairdressers near the university, they can do some wild and wacky things with your hair!
beansforyou 24-08-2008, 21:48 It's Tiger Tiger, i've been before and he does some very interesting things with hair, very interesting guy too :)
Just expect to be there a while, he's very intricate.
it's one of those life-changing moments.
icehockeyjoe 24-08-2008, 21:55 Thats the one, very reasonably priced but plan for 3 hours minimum, even for just a trim!!
beansforyou 24-08-2008, 22:50 I went in with hair down past my shoulders, I said 'do what you like'
The first cut he did, was to cut it down to about a cm at the front of my head.
I sat and stared in the mirror for the next two hours as he did the rest.
It looked amazing when he finished but I had to calm my nerves.
Shana_Rawwr 25-08-2008, 07:56 oooh awesomee !
broncolives 25-08-2008, 10:31 Hair by Christmas was owned by Elton but is now run by his former business partner Andrew.
Elton owns and runs Betty Tigers which is on Infirmary Road opposite tesco.
Both establishments are excellent for the wierd and wacky to the good old short back and sides.
Highly recommend either
beansforyou 25-08-2008, 10:55 Thats it, Betty Tigers, not Tiger Tiger
mr chris 25-08-2008, 18:33 I think it's sweet that these kids want to dress like their heroes.
They all like Yu-Gi-Oh, right?
Frenchie9920 25-08-2008, 19:04 What are the prices like at Betty Tigers and Hair by Christmas? I don't like paying dear!! :suspect::D
ellekyte 25-08-2008, 19:24 Hair by Christmas are great, they will do what you want. I have VERY long hair, not dyed, i like it that way. When I go in and say that I want it neatened up a bit, split ends and frizz removed but leave it long.... THEY DO! Wheras so many places want to lop a load off. The staff are all lovely. oh, and they do my hair for £9. Which is only for a dry trim, but they spend ages as it is so long, and are very good about it. I think that's brilliant pricing. It's obviously more for more complicated stuff but don't think they are that dear?
They're very good with kids, been a few times when other people have brought their kids in... and have watched other people get hair put up for formals. They also do all the wild dyeing and extentions and wacky cuts, but I think that overall they are just very good hairdressers! And Broomhill is dead handy to, there is a bus stop right outside (52 from town)
stressed_mum 26-08-2008, 10:45 You're thinking of Betty Tigers icehockeyjoe!!
I've had my hair done By elton quite a few times (he also owns/ed Hair by christmas) & he's a STAR!!! anything emo/goth/whacky/wonderful of just even a little trim of a regular 'townie' style & they can do it!!!!!

Thats one of the things I like about the place, I've been in before to have my hair dyed blue and more recently red, but on past occasions I've gone in just more a smart and neat trim, they always do a good job on either.
Kahuna90 08-09-2008, 00:10 I took a trip to HBC a couple of days ago to get my dreads tidied. cost me £20, so it wasn't too bad. highest price i saw on the list was £40, but i think that was real hair extensions. there were a couple of P.O.A too, but i dunno what they were.
All i know is, dread stuff tends to be £15 per hour.
And they were dead friendly, Apparently one of them keeps loosing tweesers :P
Plus some of the staff are quite cute too (Y) lol.
