I used to go to the one in the co-op in town when I was little. I remember we got in a sleigh and they had a rolling background that went on for a few minutes so you actually thought you were getting a sleigh ride to see santa. :P

that was the best bit of christmas for me when i was a kid the toy didnt matter but every year i'd look forward to the sleigh ride

we must be about the same age, I remember the sleigh ride with the rolling scenery!! ... can't remember what presents I got though

me to i rememer the sleigh ride in the co-op i was talking about this the other day to my husband asking him if he remembered it ive just been on the council website about the grotto in the peace gardens its from sat 2nd december and costs £3.50 to visit him and get a present.

The sleigh ride was excellent, but queinig for hours to get on wasn't.

Is there a grotto in Meadowhall anywhere this year?

Santa can also be found at Sheffield Ski Village on weekends during December.

Its also £3.50 to visit with a gift thrown in.

Think thats where we are going.

Santa's grotto also at Hillsborough Park Christmas Festival on Sunday 10th December.

There's always a really good grotto in Castleton at the weekends in the run up to Christmas, in conjunction with the street decorations and the horse drawn dray rides round the village.

Several kids I've taken out there have loved it- and it also helped that I have been able to take them out to find real snow on the hill tops to get them into a Christmassy mood.

the grotto at co-op has changed this year there is no sleigh ride you just walk through some christmas scenery i enjoyed the ride more than my children did lol

Yeah and my vote too.It's so lovely at Christmas time.
I love going there,although last year we went a little too late in the evening and the grotto was closed,but we still got a ride on the sleigh:D

I remember this from my childhood and up to this year have always taken my children, however not this year. Before anyone starts brow beating me please read to the end of the comment .
The first saturday it was open me and my daughter were planning on visiting the grotto she was remembering all about it from previous years particularly the ride and the scenery.I went to pay and enquried about what theme was this year to be told there was not a moving train as it was not wheel chair friendly. I am not knocking anyone with disabilities so please do not think I am but by making it accessilble for wheelchairs a lot of pleasure has been taken out of it for children and adults alike. So in effect the quality has gone down and price gone up.
