Where can I get a finished tapestry re-shaped?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can get a finished tapestry re-shaped?

I've finished a great sunflower design to make into a cushion cover, but it's warped quite badly, so I need to get it re-shaped before I can sew it up.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thre is a picture framers just off Dykes Hall Rd in Hillsborough, first road off to the left, as you start to go up.

They frame cross stitch pictures etc, they might be able to help?

Have you tried washing and reshaping?

A lot of my cross stitch pix need reshaping after I've finihsed them, and I:

*wash with warm water with just a little washing up liquid

*swish it about a bit, do not rub

*rinse in cool but not cold water

*DO NOT WRING

*Roll work in a fluffy towel to soak up excess water

*Pin the work to your ironing board in the desired shape and leave to dry.

*when dry (or slightly damp) lay work (face down) on a clean dry fluffy towel and iron.

This usually works for me, but then I lace my work, so it's pulled right that way too.

Hope this helps :)

I tried that shop off Dykes Hall Road, but they only shape things for framing. As I want to make it into a cushion, I need to shape it first.

I'll try the washing, pinning and ironing thing - that may give it enough shape to make up.

thanks for your help

I think you need to have a webshots or photobucket account (free) then you upload your pics onto it, and then pop a link on here.
