As of 7am tomorrow BT will have binned the line loss levels that may of stopped you getting broadband in the past.

Can reorder and have another go....

I get this result for the phone number of the house to which we're moving in Stannington:

Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, the quality or length of your phone line prohibits you from receiving ADSL of any speed.

The following services are available in your location:

BT Wholesale ADSL available, but line too long

Please select the options on the left for more information about broadband availability at your location.

To show these results to someone else, right click the following hyperlink and click Copy Shortcut. You can then paste the link to them and they will be able to see your results.

Will there be a different answer tomorrow morning or have I misunderstood the report?

Will I be able to get adsl when I move in in 2 weeks?

No, unfortunately nowhere in Stannington can get BB from any of the normal suppliers ie Wanadoo, AOhell, BT et al.

That's why I pay £46.99 a month for wireless 512k BB from Pipex, their webby is www.pipex.net if you want to have a look at what they've got for you.

The lack of BB other than Pipex is one of 2 main things wrong with the Stannington area, the other one of course being the completely pants bus service, especially on a Sunday, 1 bus serving the whole of upper Malin Bridge, lower Stannington and the "real" Stannington further up than Sportsman pub?! WTF use is that to anyone?! :loopy:

There will be another answer (after 7am)
When you move in 2weeks you can place a order and BT will do more extentive testing (currently stopped testing at 60dB not they will keep going up to 75dB) (mst lines only go to 90dB and thats in deepest darkest Scotland)

Rich we reach lockheads again....
Stannington *currently* can not get broadband provisions via a BT line. But with BT now relaxing the limits for ADSL provision it will open up broadband access to homes and busines that were once out or range or loss levels.

I have been working with broadband since 97, please do not keep disregarding my comments, as they would not be posted if not correct.

I just go on what I know, and I know that every time I check any BT reseller such as AOhell, Wanadoo et al all I get is "we cannot give you broadband because you don't live in Wadsley Bridge, where the exchange is located"

To be honest, I didn't find much differance, when I had 56K.

However, I did get it free as something was "wrong" their end when I tried to apply for it and then shortly after we went ADSL.

What ATE are we on in Bradfield ? Is Oughtibridge still working ?

Always assumed out here we'd be too far away from anywhere.

I just found out that I can now get Wanadoo (aka Freeserve)'s 512k service on my phone line which is loads cheaper than the £46 a month I currently pay to Pipex for a wireless DSL connection over Satellite.

Thanks. I thought all those little rural exchanges had been shut down.

Bradfield RFS date set for next June, but trigger level is down at 37%. Wonder if I could get local postie to leaflet everyone on his round to pre-register for broadband :)

The Pre-Reg scheme has stopped, you will get upgraded no matter what.

Greybeard,

Bradfield is a satelite off Wadsley Bridge and apparently Broadband will be available from June next year. I live in Dungworth and have just had a load of bother with BT as I have BT Surftime which I couldn't use cos the line was noisy and throwing up too many errors. They finally fixed it at the 3rd attempt and I'm currently trying to get a refund for the last 6 months that I couldn't use it.

The annoying thing is that I was the BT linesman at Bradfield for years and told them exactly where the fault would be, but would they listen? Would they bugger!

Oh and by the way, yes Oughtibridge is still working but only half the building it used to be. The front bit is now a private house.

Hey People

This is the deal I am on:

http://www.onetel.co.uk/index.php/bundle

It is £29.99 per month but that includes unlimited calls anywhere in the country 24/7 without having to hang up and re-dial after an hour like with BT and other providers AND unlimited 512k BROADBAND - no limits to downloading etc, it is a fantastic service!!

You don't give BT up, you still rent your line from them, but you have these guys as your service provider if that makes sense?! :)

Just a thought :) Hope this helps some of you :)
