does anyone know of a nice place to go for a meal in the sheffield area?

there are many places that do decent food. What do you fancy and what sort of budget? May get you some replies.

Pizza Express, Ask, Nandos, Shahibs, Flying Pizza, Ban Thai are a few, there is a serious lack of quality restaurants in Sheffield City centre though. Its one thing that really lets Sheffield down.

i would recommend the pickwick at high green...buy one get one free every evening up to 9pm and the food and service is great

We went to the Gypsy Queen near Crystal Peaks last night and enjoyed a very nice meal

i am looking for a place that is not to difficult to get to and does nice food. money is not a problem willing to pay for nice meal its for a special occasion

dont mind traveling out the area if i can get directions

Seasons on Abbeydale road is meant to be very good.
Monsel head Inn at Monsel head is good.
Shirazz on Abbeydale road - Persian food, very nice and also cheap.
Bahn Thai if you like Thai food in excellent surroundings.
Depends on what you like really.

Well they can only be one place and thats Bulters balti house on Brook street value for money great service and spectacular food i promise you.

Wig and Penn on Campo Lane is lovely and so is 23 in west street. Out of town there is Milno of Abbeydale road or Peacock at Owler Bar is great too. But for a special occasion I would choose Green House out at Chapletown it is really nice, hope you enjoy

The Sheffield on Crimicar Lane is supposed to be really good. they have a wide varied menu and have just got a new chef who is apparently really good. I eat there quite often and have always found it very nice.

Try the White Rose at Handsworth, we were in there yesterday lunchtime ... 2 x Sirloin Steaks with chips and salad and 1 bottle of Blossom Hill Red Wine, £11.99 for the two of us. And its GOOD!

the drawbridge in rotherham (left at the end of meadowbank rd) do a realy good carvery. 3 meats, and there happy to give you some of each if you like, and as much taters and veg as you can fit on your plate. £3.25 b4 5pm (extra £1 after) dont let the cheapness put you off, this is realy nice and you couldnt buy it for less in a supermarket, oh and if you do decide to go you dont go in the main doors, go down the steps to the right hand side of the pub and in that door

My favourites are: Siam Inter on Abbeydale Rd for Thai; New India Garden on Chesterfield Rd for Indian.

Lahlous at Commonside, Walkley do a great line in French/English food, and they're very cosy. A livlier time can be had at Sheffield's best Italian - Cassanova on Crookes.

really good value for money and great food

Recently I stumbled across a lovely restaurant on West Street at the top near Glossop Road. This place is Italian and has a fab lunch deal, its a soup (usually soup of the day) and any pizza or pasta for £5.

I have to recommend it, the atmosphere is great and the food is wonderful. It is open in the evenings too with a pasta dish priced at around £7.50.

Is ASK any good? I'm supposed to be going there next week, however I dont know what kind of place it is... I understand its a chain? What does it say about the person who suggested it? lol
