Does anyone know whats going on with the relocation of the markets and the redevolpment of the Moor? I work at the bottom of the Moor, and my company has found alternative premises, but nobodys actually telling us anything. My mum works in the market, and the rumour going round there is that the bank who owns the land around the Moor has pulled out, and the proposed redevolpment isnt going to happen. Would be nice to get some actual facts on this.

I'm a bit out of date with this one, but I suspect that unless the City Council underwrites the rent on the new market hall it's VERY unlikely to go ahead. The bank doesn't need to take any risk on collecting rent for an expensive new building from lots of different traders.

That said, I don't know if the Council is in a position to underwrite those rents even if it wanted to.

Please, please, please tell me its going to happen... It urgently needs to get moving. Anyway this stupid sheffield 1 website is so out of date.. According to that it is supposed to happen. Anyone work for the council on here and knows whats going to happen for sure??????:mad:

I'm assuming the castle market will be getting demolished/redeveloped as some of the recent jobs advertised in the castle market building say they will be moving within 6 months?!?
