Hello all
I'm not from sheffield - and looking at a two bed apartment to live with a friend in the millsands area of the city centre
Anyone know what the area is like? And would we be fairly close to the centre for bars, restuarants etc?
Any help appreciated :) Or advice of where else to look, Budget around 100-120k mark
Thanks
Eddie

Hi Eddie,
Thought I would try and help you as you don't seem to be having much luck at the moment receiving replys.
The Millsands area is slightly out of the town centre and so is slightly cheaper to buy there than developments like West One and Royal Plaza which are very central and on West Street where the bars are.
The flats on Trippet Lane are part of West Point. West point faces both on to West Street and Trippet lane and the Trippet lane ones do seem to be cheaper but as far as i am aware are all the same.
The other main developments now are Jet Centro which is not as Central as those on West street and look out on a very busy road called St Mary's Gate.
Others to look for which may be in your price range are, Base Building, Smithfields, Broughton House (all central to bars)
Upto 5 minutes walk from the Centre of town are Metis, V One, AG1 and Coode which is in the Millsands area next to the Pinsent, Redgrave, Foster and Cracknell blocks. Round the corner from these, classed at the wicker arches area of town there are some new developments still being built, not sure of prices though.
Others to look at might be at Cornish Place which is an area ,which are conversions from an old building.
If you are wanting to buy at Millsands it may be worth putting in a cheeky offer as they do not seem to move very quickly with many being on sale for a considerable amount of time.
Hope this is helpful

hi,
I don't have much knowledge of Millsands other than they are small and lots of them and fairly near to centre. depends on what you are after. I have spent time at Cornish Place and at Brooklyn Works and I found Brooklyn Works to be a very friendly place with people talking and partying together. there's PARKING and peace and quiet yet easily within walking distance or bus/tram ride to centre. There is an on-site manager and a gym for your use. The apartments are considerably larger and so cost a bit more, but in my mind well worth it for a great place to live rather than a box.
hope this helps.
P.S. and if you are looking to rent out a room they demand a good rent and I can put you in touch with someone who can help find a tenant

Tried searching on the net but couldn't find a thing!

you could also try Kelham Mills which is a new development opposite cornish place (i live at cornish place and its a great place to live) you can walk to the city centre in 10 mins or get the ttram if you're lazy for about £1.
kelham mills is available on a shared ownership basis or 100% purchase, here's the website

Not all of them look out onto St Mary's Road, some face a very quiet backstreet called Mary Street.
