We used to have a dog that liked radishes..He would go out into the garden pull them out by the leaves and then eat the radish off. A niegbour of mine has a dog that goes into his greenhouse and helps himself to the tomatoes, and the wife used to own a Whippet that loved to eat raw onions..are there any more readers out there with veggie loving dogs?.

We had a Great Dane (sadly no longer) who loved curry's, but could pick out the pea's from it. How a dog that big can pick out something that small and spit em onto the floor is beyond me, but she was my baby so one wag of the tail and all was forgiven.

dogs liking vegetables isn't as wierd as it sounds. I believe the idea is that when they were in the wild they would eat the part digested stomach of their prey. This prey normally being a herbivore it would be veges.

So dog owners are now asked to feed their dogs vegetables to make sure they get a more balanced diet. Looks like your dogs knew what was best for them!

One of my mums cats used to have very strange tastes. This cat would eat anything, and i do mean anything - chilli, curry, chips, rice, anything you put in front of her except cat food, she just would not touch it. She was one very strange, but very lovely little cat.

it's not so strange, owdlad...

My friend once had an Alsatian, and he was soooo finniky.
the dog would not eat the mixer that she stirred into the pedigree chum that she served him...

All you'd hear was

"munch. munch.. Pting! Pting!"

as the dog would suck the meat from round the biscuits and spit the biscuits back into the metal feeding dish...

so she changed to a small bite mixer in the hope that he would be fooled into eating the mixer withthe chum...
no flaming chance!!

"Munch Pting! munch, Pting!"

lol lol lol

Incidentally, my dog is crazy aboaut carrots. he loves it, if we are doiong a stew or such-like, for us to wash him a carrot down, trim it, and feed it to him.

My sister in law's dog is a now quite elderly collie. every sunday, she serves the dog (along with the family) a full-on "sunday lunch" with roast meat, yorkie pudd, and veg.... the whole enchilada!

talk about pampered!

my housemate's dog loves fruit, she's not so bothered about vegetables (apart from raw potato!) but apples, banana, grapes and especially pears she will beg and scrounge for all day!! she's just turned 16 now so that diet must have been good for her.

I used to have a Pacu (allegedly a vegetarian piranha!). It would eat potatoes, celery, sprouts, grapes oranges in fact anything.Monkeynuts it used to peel (de-shell?) them in its mouth and spit the shell out.It soon grew too large and had to go.
As this thread is about dogs it would probably eat them as well if it got the chance.
Most wild animals will eat whatever they can as it becomes available.

My Granny, God rest her soul, was totally eccentric and stone deaf. She had a poodle dog for the deaf. It was amazing. It would fetch her to the door if there was someone there, yap at the kettle once it had boiled, you know wierd and clever stuff.

The amazing thing is that this dog had no training. But it was fed on porridge and tea! Yes, a bowl of poridge with molasses, and a nice cup of milky sweet tea.

Every morning Queenie (The poodle) it would indulge in a spoonful of cod liver oil and a slice of toast with garlic butter.

Not a traditional diet for a poodle perhaps. But I kid you not, this sweet little dog lived energetically for 23 years!!!

I know what I'm going to have for breakfast when I'm a 161 years old.
