PIF_Tails 04-09-2004, 10:12 Here is the true facts.http://www.cdnn.info/article/open_water/open_water.html The film plot is just guesses. Sidla 04-09-2004, 11:55 It looks rubbish. I know it's a true story and everything, but I don't understand how 2 people stuck out at sea can be engaging for a feature length movie. Lickszz 04-09-2004, 17:49 The idea of some films is to imagine the situation. Although, yes it does seem difficult to be be able to effectively make this go on for more than 1 hour. Grissom 05-09-2004, 14:28 FYI...Open Water is on at the UGC on Thursday 09th at following times 11.00 1.00 3.00 5.00 7.00 9.00 Loks like could be an OK film, just have to remember that the sharks are all real and there were no animatronics/CGI sharks due to the low budget :o ReginaldD 07-09-2004, 01:08 I think it looks quite good i saw the previews for it about two weeks ago and i've wanted to see it since then. Although i do wonder how they are going to keep the audience interested for 1hr+. It is a similar situation to Phonebooth, as that movie just focused on Colin Farrell stuck in a Phonebooth for an hour+. kitkat 07-09-2004, 07:35 I saw this over the weekend and i thought it was good... no special effects or anything,, but still was very entertaining. I thought a whole film with people bobbing in the sea would be lame,, but i was wrong. A very refreshing film but don't expect the happy ending like the end of Jaws,,, Fantomas 07-09-2004, 08:25 Thanks for the spoiler warning Kitkat! max 07-09-2004, 08:27 Originally posted by Fantomas Thanks for the spoiler warning Kitkat! Err, it's based on a true story, they never found the bodies. See the link piffy posted. :D Fantomas 07-09-2004, 08:45 Originally posted by max Err, it's based on a true story, they never found the bodies. See the link piffy posted. :D I chose not to follow the link because I didn't want the film ruined. Just because it's based on a true story doesn't mean I want to know all about it beforehand. Ideally I'd see the film and then read about it. Anyhoo, no matter, I'm not really that bothered, was just making the point that people should be careful when talking about films that haven't even been released yet! ;) DaBouncer 07-09-2004, 09:01 I went scuba diving in the Maldives and loved every minute of it (including swiming with a 5ft black tip shark :o ). I'm quite looking forward to seeing this movie, because it's one of the low budget shooting types (i.e. all small camera type filming) which gives a more real environment as apposed to blockbuster type movies such as (deep blue sea). I reckon it will be a quality movie. Although since the couple's bodies were never found they cannot prove they were eaten by sharks. They could have died another way. Apparently they have found evidence that they lasted through the night anyway till next morning. Lestat 19-09-2004, 21:35 Just seen it. It's nothing like Blair witch at sea!? . like some of the reviews said. I thought it was pretty good - the tension was built up really well in some parts and the truth may well have been like the film insisted. Keeps you guessing all the way anyway, not the best film of the year but not the worst either. cluelessmuff 20-09-2004, 15:00 Am i the only person who thought this film was awful? Not enough tension built up and i know that the sharks were real but still, i think the plastic ones they used in jaws were more scary (or maybe it helped with the jaws music!?). I also agree to the above point about how on earth do they know what happened to the couple if neither survived (someone earlier already gave this away so dont have a go at me for ruining it for you!). They may have been killed a few hours after the boat buggered off back to the shore!! We dont know how either?! Stupid stupid film! DaBouncer 20-09-2004, 19:16 I suppose it depends if you can relate to the film. I went scuba diving in July and can relate to have large sharks near by when in the sea. The film terrified me to my very soul. Not it a ghostly type of way but I can relate to the panic they must have felt (assuming that's what happened to them) when in the water. When I was in the maldives I swap a little too much out of my depth, to a point where I was convinced I was not going to make it back to shore. I suppose that sense of panic must have been similar to what that couple must have felt before they died. Seriously made me think. Absolutely amazing film and one for my movie collection when it comes out. Endcliffe 27-09-2004, 00:47 seems terrible from the replys Lickszz 24-10-2004, 15:14 I actually though this was an ok film. Yes, not much to it, but to enjoy this you have to be able to relate to the situation and imagine yourself in a similar situation. The thought is horrifying. I had a similar thought about Phone Booth, but they managed to keep the tension and interest going throughout. |
