View Full Version : Need For Speed Carbon on PC
GWorkshop 27-11-2006, 16:48 im a total pc games novic, this is my first go at gaming.
ok so ive got NFSC installed, when i go to play it it says insert the dvd to continue.
if ive already installed it why does it need it in the dvd drive, with an annoying whining sound from my dvd drive
do all pc games require you to install and insert disc to play?
aside from that NFSC is very cheesy with lots of Gangs and Crews, i only wanted to do some simulated driving, now i have to put up with stupid crew members talking utter rubish to me, constantly!
Lots of games require the DVD, for one reason, to prevent illegal spread of games. If you let your mate install it, he has the game for free.
Another thing, to prevent this you need to download a nocd crack (sorry if this is not allowed to be said). If you just want to race, and you love need for speeds racing style. Then try give need for speed most wanted a go.
Ive played that, only thing is though, you can attract cops, and they chase you. Im not a racing car person, so I couldnt recommend another game made perfectly for the driving except rally racing games
There are plenty of racing simulators out, Toca Race Driver for example lets you play in 15 racing styles: DTM, street racing, rally, ice, formula, classics, supper trucks...
Also a classic racer came out not long ago called GT Legends, tried the demo, was good :)
Need for speed most wanted was fun, but far from realistic and strain on the eyes with never-ending blur.
TheBlueDragon 27-11-2006, 20:53 you can turn blur off on NFSMW
Carbon is a good game, I enjoyed it, for the whole 3 days it took to complete it, and not even hardcoring it 12hrs a day or anything... its a really easy game to complete... wish they'd start to learn to put more time into gameplay and not graphics!!
Get yourself GTR2 it's class:

simondjuk 28-11-2006, 09:12 Ive got Flat Out 2 for my PC and its a 5 disc install, but after that you dont need the CD's to run it.
Great game too
mambo2097 28-11-2006, 12:10 Flat Out 2 is fantastic. Toca Race Driver 3 for PC isn't too bad as a driving game that isn't as forgiving when you make a mistake like NFS games or Flat Out etc but just for fun NFSMW ranks very highly with myself. What's more fun that just driving round gathering as many coppers as you can. Ok a step away from reality but isn't that what a game should be?? :hihi:
neeeeeeeeeek 28-11-2006, 12:14 get Need for speed most wanted 2 or which ever was the one before carbon, you don't get the annoying crews. GTR2 is the one is you want realism.
Most PC games require the disk to be in the drive when your playing to stop people copying them. You can get patches for the majority of games from gamecopyworld.com which let you replace the .exe file and run with out the cd if it annoys you.
GWorkshop 28-11-2006, 15:46 Another annoying thing about NFSC is the gameplay is mostly, if not all set at nightime. which is ok if you have a CRT monitor with good picture display. i have found that TFT`s are not very good at picking up and defining black and dark tones. im using an LG flatron L173ST, which is by no means a cheapo 17" TFT and im ready to quit NFSC full stop for this reason .
does anyone know if there are actually any daytime races/stages on NFSC?

Nope, its all at night. Funny though, my LCD doesnt have any trouble displaying the game properly. Its just that the game itself is crap.Whos bright idea was it to put in muscle cars, but take out what theyre best at, which is drag racing? And its too easy. 100% career mode and challenge stages in under a week. Cant be arsed with online mode.
sugarcube 29-11-2006, 21:16 id have to say toca race driver 3 is the best atm. cant wait for the next one.
im not really a fan of the arcade style games, i prefer hardcore simulation GT4 or toca on pro-sim.
yes NFS carbon was ridiculously easy, me and a mate completed it in <12 hours. so glad we rented it and didnt bother buying it.
