Which buildings need to be knocked down in priority in Sheffield apart from the obvious ones like the classic roxy one?

Had a walk in the city centre this afternoon and this is what I think:

Well mainly a lot of 60's ugly buildings like Barkers pool house, the one near Lloyds bar (its brown with really mucky glass and its opposite the left side of the city hall), the hideous kingdom building, debenhams buildings is awful, and quite a few along the moor, hsbc building where coles corner was, marks n spencers one isn't great... Sorry folks it does seem like I'd knock half of Sheffield down doesn't it?? But surely you have to agree they are awful!!
Also for the older buildings the old salvation army building in cambridge street is very dated, actually quite a few up there need something doing with ( unless this is where the retail quarter is going to be??) can't think of any more at the mo thank god!!:D

Surely, the Sheffield United football ground can come down.

It doesn't seem to have any purpose, does it?

Do you mean the former NUM headquarters? I think that dates to the early late 80s - never fully occupies, and already under thereat of demolition!

Yeah that is what I mean. They look a right state already!! I can't understand how they can afford to keep leaving places like this vacant... They cost a fortune to build and 20 yrs later they're thinking of knockin them down... Why don't they build something decent in the first place??:P

First the serious buildings!.
1. Park hill flats. The ugliest buildings in sheffield (Not counting the one listed at the bottom!)

2. Bernard rd incinerator.

3. Radio house (Hallam fm)

HILLSBOROUGH FOOTBALL GROUND (I can't bring myself to type Sheffield Wed#**#@y). lol (Only joking)

Unfortunately its a grade 2 listed building :o

The one Iw ould really like to see go / replaces / tarted up is the big power substaion near the bottom of the more - every time I go past it I'm reminded of a giant public lavatory!

The football ground kinda is useful for football matches...

How about pulling Wednesday football stadium down then... :D

How about the big red building at the bottom of the Moor.. It serves no purpose and its horrible to look at. I been saying that for the last 6 years I been in it :(

Get it down fast, after I've left for the day of course :P

The featureless grey box that is the Virgin gym just beyond Heeley and while you're at it all the other grey featureless boxes that seem to be springing up to house call centres and gyms.
The Millenium Gallery and several of the buildings along Arundel Gate, again bland, boring and without character.
The red brick building at the bottom of the Moor as they never did open up the walkway through the middle of it for pedestrians.
Any new shopping retail parks that are geared towards the car driver and pedestrians come a poor second, examples, that one by Crystal Peaks,, Heeley retail park with Mataland, and the one by the new B and Q.

Nicely said WALLBUILDER.
All of the ones you cited: down !
Add Wedneday Football Ground and that'll keep the council for a while.

I actually think Arundel gate is has a great collection of good architecture. (Aside from Roxy of course)

sorry folks but prctically the whole of the centre from the Wicker to bottom of the Moor. I would leave the Crucible, Lyceum and the older buildings and blitz the rest along with 90% of the suburbs (ie horrid housing estates, crystal peaks etc). Sheffield is one of the most awful, ugly cities in the Northern Hemisphere and most of the architecture stinks.

where would you house all the residents from the 90% of the demolished suburbs???
i've a good idea, demolish meadowhell (overated/overpriced/overfull) and build the largest housing estate in britain:rant
in agreement with hillsborough and the united ground, the purpose was supposed to be football but thats all in the past,no future for sheffield football, turn em both into car parks or build tower blocks so we can house all the residents from the 90% of demolished suburbs.
mind you they've (the council mob) have already started on the parson cross estate, where's everyone gone from there?????
