Hoping someone can help me out here! I'm looking at letters published in newspapers and how they are contextualised. Now, I know the meaning of the word, but don't know how to spot how they are contextualised :help:

Contextualised by the paper or the writer of the letter?

It would help if you quoted an example.

Take a subject, look at the letters received on that subject, and stick them under one main subject heading.

Take another subject, look at the letters received on that subject and stick them under the next subject heading........and so on.

Preferably select the most relevant subject of the day that the editor wishes to emphasise......place it, and its associated letters at the top of the page....etc etc.

The most trivial subjects usually are placed at the bottom of the page.

You have then contextualised the Letters Page. :)

ok erm, as in looking at how a letter may be contextuliased , how you are made aware that the writer is writing a letter to the newspaper.
