View Full Version : What happened to the Green Room, Division Street

After a brief (and seemingly quiet) time open it would appear that the Green Room on Division Street, opposite Devonshire Green, is now closed. Anyone know the story behind the closure? I know they used to be on Regent's Terrace as Casablanca (see this thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3579)) but the whole thing seems very intriguing. Anyone know someone that's connected and can get an answer?

This is what Mark from Real Promotions wrote about the subject.

I heard that they had trouble with licensing people for their Pavement Cafe area. I don't know the ins and outs, but too many people were standing outside. Don't know if that has anything to do with the closure...

Thank you very much carcrash - that's great. Is Mark (Real Promotions) the manager/owner or just someone that books their entertainment? I would assume the latter, but you never know... some people do both!

Is someone else going to take over it?

Shame it has closed down, it was really cool on a wednesday night.

one of my mates worked on the bar there and a few weeks back on a friday night they got shut down because there were too many people on the street. Police asked where the manager was and he had gone missing. Sounds like a top manager. As far as i knew it was just being refurbished. Hope it doesn't shut.

Well i kinda hope it does,, because the place itself is a cool little place but it's clearly been run into the ground by the shocking lack of experience in management there.
I hope someone great takes it over and does a great job with it.

Don't despair everyone, i walked passed earlier and it looked like it was getting a bit of a refurb.

Its a shame about the outside drinking, i used to go there and never witnessed any trouble outside.

Its something Sheffield has got completley wrong with the lack of outside drinking areas - but in the same way Green room should have solved the problem before it disrupted there trade.

Walked past the Green Room today and it looks like it has improved alot.

They was re-painting the wooden framework outside the building - GREEN, surprise suprise!

Glad it's reopening soon, always liked the chilled out atmosphere inside.
