there is a chart somewhere,

£1.20 inital, then 10p every 120yards or something, then 10p for every 20secs without moving!

its crazy!

too expensive!

Private hire are always cheaper (one you ring up), versus Hackney carriage type (Black Cab)

Phone up a cab company and ask then for a rough idea. Might be cheaper just to find a b+b locally - I'd have said it'd be around £10-£15 but will also depend on time of day etc..

I often get a taxi from town centre to High Green (roughly 12 Miles)

I have never paid more than £15

You best best bet is to pre book with Local Cars 0114 2721111

They are best by far, often do it me for £8 to a Tenna

Hope this helps

Roughly a quid a mile is a good rule of thumb for longish journeys. can't you get a bus? people on this forum love buses and could tell you which ones will take you anywhere, and also which ones will have a bus driver that picks his nose, and which ones are more likely to crash!

Don't you have a willing friend that could do it for a third of the price?

The cost also depends on whether you are going "over the sheffield city boundaries".

That can make it a fare-plus-half-again. especially in the black-cab taxis. They don't like going over the boundaries .. (heh heh)

it's a bit like london and it's common taxi driver mating call....
"Nah, mate, I dahnt go sarf of ver rivah!"
