My so (significant other) has gone out on a girls night out on short notice, we're on holiday this week and it's left me at a loose end.

There's nothing on telly, i've caught up on my forums, i finished my books earlier this week and i can't face any more diy. And i had 2 days straight of computer games whilst the plasterer was here... So what can i do... I already had take away and some wine, but it's all left me feeling a bit flat (and a bit bloated from too much chinese).

Providing your neighbours are nocturnal or deaf, you could always mow the lawn :D

Could always try to get some stimulation with the aid of the hoover..
:o :D :P

the use of power tools at this point is probably inadvisable, and i'll include the hoover in that category too. I'm reading threads that i only previously would have read whilst "on the bench" ie. doing nothing and being paid for it back in April/May. Also trying to generate a larger hangover than SO for tomorrow despite staying in as billy no mates and having loads of diy to do.

BTW - plasterer did a good job, will start a thread about it sometime.

I guess you could write something (short stories etc)

I often try and write a journal if i get bored, just for no other reason than to get the crap i'm thinking out of my head and onto paper (or screen, digitised maybe?)

If all else fails, i guess you coudl go to bed and sleep off the boredom.

Then, if i get really bored i tend to eat everything in the house and gain a new food addiction :loopy:

The latest one is grapefruit...

well, reading this is keeping me occupied for a few minutes, and now i get to witter on in a reply again.

I have a journal type thing over at the http://www.planetjitsu.com website, but about all i could report on tonight/today was feeling tired in the afternoon and sweeping the attic room (now the plasteres finished) and having a snooze this afternoon.

Which is why i can't go and sleep away the boredom, i did that earlier when i was tired. And i finished my book, i own so many books, it's silly. I had to take a rough guess the other day whilst working out what to insure the contents for and it must be like 1k's worth of books... Why am i not stupid enough to read slowly.

I'd like to write stories, but i've stated short stories before and one thing i hate is not having the time to finish them. So until i can quit my day job and write full time, i'm going to avoid it.

I don't think i could physically eat everything in the house, i've not even finished the chinese i bought. I'm doing a good job on the wine, but i can see at least 20 bottles from where i'm sat, so i'm definitely not trying to finish those....

And it's too late for a run, and i'd probably have a list anyway.
It's such a hard life.

Hmm, is the house/flat/pet/whatever clean and tidy? You could impress your SO in the morning by them noticing that everythign is nice and tidy, not a chinese takeaway box or empty wine bottle in sight etc

I don't know about you SO but that'd thrill me to bits and i'd think it to be very thoughtful and sweet.

Maybe i'm clutching at straws now but i guess you could always compose an e-mail to afriend you haven't seen in a while, you don't have to do it all, just make a rough draft and finish it tomorrow or when not drunk.

If you had their address you coudl ahnd write a letter instead, thats much more personal and is recieved much more happily (curse my counselling qualifications for teaching me this stuff, it make every woman think i'm gay)

Anyways, try them out if you want.

thanks.

Contrary to popular sexist opinion, i'm the tidier of the two of us, and any the house is, if not upside down, at least at 45 degrees whilst we decorate one room, so i'm not cleaning up, it's pointless.

The chinese is now in the fridge, the wine bottles (small ones) are in the bin, and the dishes are in the sink.

I do my emails at work, mainly because i don't have the addresses here... And also because it's a way to waste a few minutes. I'm a science graduate, i write like a spider has committed suicide on some paper after swimming in ink (an actual quote from a high school report).

Keep trying though, soon my typing will be too slow to bother and i'll have to start re-reading something. Until then all suggestions are gratefully received.
