My friend is taking me to the market cos i told him ive never heard of it before!! Never knew it existed! Bilge 30-11-2006, 13:24 10am - 7pm sat 10am - 5pm sun www.simt.co.uk Are these definitely the opening times? The information on the website doesn't give them at all, but says something about early evening opening until 7pm - which could mean it starts at about 5pm and it only lasts for 2 hours. Is it usually so busy that they don't advertise it very well on purpose? LadyInRed 30-11-2006, 19:50 Sat 10am until 7pm and Sun 10am until 5pm are the correct opening times as I have my contract for my stall infront of me, hope this helps. Its normally very busy, they do advertise but iv never seen any so far, I tend to put my own posters up around hillsborough and at work. I make Decoupage Greeting Cards and other crafty items, il be the 2nd stall in from the entrance, next to the mulled wine, look on my site for previous years pictures. www.designedwithyouinmind.co.uk scottf 01-12-2006, 11:11 hhmm- id go but id prefer not to pay £4 to walk round the stalls? I think this might put a few people off. LadyInRed 01-12-2006, 12:59 you pay £4 becasue you get access to all the museum attractions including the river don engine, little misters etc etc etc, it may seem steep but its really a good couple of days, I have to pay to be there too, and if i didn't do well or enjoy it I would not attend the following years. I used to go as a customer before I had a stall. jen13kd 01-12-2006, 13:03 its just down the road from me and i've been going for the last couple of years. its really good! Bilge 01-12-2006, 13:56 What are the food options? scottf 01-12-2006, 17:16 you pay £4 becasue you get access to all the museum attractions including the river don engine, little misters etc etc etc, it may seem steep but its really a good couple of days, I have to pay to be there too, and if i didn't do well or enjoy it I would not attend the following years. I used to go as a customer before I had a stall. I know but i went to the museum a couple of months ago so i wouldn't realyl want to pay again??? never mind! LadyInRed 01-12-2006, 21:35 Iv been today to take my set up and there is the Cafe, a Soup kitchen, the Snack wagon and the fat cat pub all on site, i also got to see the steam engine driven in which was hugh and smelt great, Hope to see some forumers there over the weekend, only pain was the one way system where they are building all those student apts.. Dark Moomin 05-12-2006, 14:54 Hi, I went along to this, It was reqally good - didn't manage to get any Christmas presents, but it was a nice morning none the less. Does anyone know if any of the stalls selling jewellry have shops or stalls elsewhere? Realised that some of it would make a great pressie for someone, but didn't think of it on the day, am kicking myself now! Bilge 05-12-2006, 17:36 I 'd agree it was a nice morning. But overall I didn't think it was very good to be honest and I now don't feel I've missed anything by never going in previous years. Maybe I was wrong to expect something big and exciting with lots of nice things to eat/drink/buy (like you see in the centre of some big cities at xmas). I suppose 'Victorian' meant poverty for most people. The stuff in the museum is great, but that's there anyway. I just kept looking round different corners thinking maybe I'd find the main market bit that I'd missed so far. I don't want to be too critical though as it's obviously a good idea and a lot of people put a lot of effort into it. Maybe it will take off more when the Kelham area eventually comes to life. LadyInRed 05-12-2006, 19:07 and you all chickened out of saying hello to me and you had to walk past my stall! not sure why but it was smaller than past years. Dark Moomin 05-12-2006, 19:55 I remembered you said you'd be there, but couldn't remember where you said it was!! LadyInRed 05-12-2006, 21:22 www.designedwithyouinmind.co.uk - pic on first page I was 2nd stall in next to the canteen entrance opp the hotdog stand and near the steam train. Jchatt 06-12-2006, 23:11 Hi Lady in Red Wondered if you will be doing the Hillsborough Christmas Festival this weekend. I was going to have a stall at Kelham Island but decided £80 was a bit steep for my first time. But I was sent the details of the Hillsborough one which is £20 for a stall. I also make greeting cards :) LadyInRed 07-12-2006, 21:55 not doing the hillsborough one, its my birthday sunday so im going out for it, I didn't pay £80 I paid £55 for a outside stall. I hope the weather is good for hillsborough, I did one in the summer there and got loads stock ruined becasue of the weather even tho I had a gazebo up, the wind wrecked the gazebo and the rain came straight through it.
