As someone else has said, it's from the 1978 War Of The Worlds album by Jeff Wayne. The singer was Justin Hayward (of the Moody Blues) and the song is called The Eve Of The War. And yes the vocalist IIRC was Justin Hayward, from the Moody blues, and yes, he also sang on "Forever Autumn" (I know David Essex was the vocalist on another of the tracks on WotW, so he *might* be the vocalist on that track...) I must get my old albums out and have a listen to the WotW The Bowie track, "life on Mars", only has lyrics about Mars which go "is there life on Mars?" not "chances of anything..."
