hi, :help:

my son has to find his own 2 week work experience for june 07
he will be 15 at that time and is very keen in business , marketing, advertising and .....as if it mattered skateboarding.

he has tried to get on at the skateboarding shop in town but they said they couldnt.

he is an articulate, well mannered young lad, not a yob, or a lout or a "hoodie" doing the duke of edinburgh award at KES.

please can anyone offer advice (or a placement) if you have an appropriate business.

thanks his mum ...who has offered to help him but is in fact out of her depth as i work in education and he does not want to spend 2 weeks in a school with his mum...

i realise the irony of him having to find his own.....what i mean is if we cant set one up between ourselves, he has to have what the school give him.
Ohhh and it has to be in sheffield otherwise there is a 32 pound fee.......................hence the thread on the sheffield forum.

tatty bye:|

Must've changed the rules then, I did my work experience placement in Rotheram way back in 1990 (I was 14 at the time) and didn't get charged 32 quid.

As for your lad's placement, you know there's an indoor skate park at Neepsend? Why not try there? Think the phone number's on Yell.com or Google'll know it.

thanks for that
my eldest son did his work experience at "the house" indoor skatepark
he loved it 3 days a week , free skating , free coffee, it was an experience but as for the WORK ? negatory on the work front.

the youngest has a bit more ambition..........but thanks anyway:thumbsup:

Recently met a lad who travelled up from Watfod (orthereaBOUTs) to Birmingham about 3-4 days a week just to shadow a footaball coach at one of those big clubs; nowthat's dedication. He thoroughly enjoyed his work placement which his mum had secured for him by ringing around all the football clubs. At this age, I think prospective employers are very impressed by parental involvement so just go through the phonebook of organisations where your sone might like to work.
