Take a look at the BUNAC.com site - I went on a summer away (more years ago than I care to mention). I know a lot of people go for the temp work visa then never come back. It's a pretty good way to test if you like living in a foreign country without burning all your bridges. Perhaps it's not Sheffield you are sick of? Perhaps you just haven't figured out what you want to do with your life yet? (Perhaps your primary interest "going out" just isn't enough :)

As your a British citizen and a member of the EU youre free to go work anywhere in the EU with only your passport and proof of where you are living (ie contract from your landlord) in order to gain a Irish version of a National Insurance number. Once you have the NI number you can open a bank account and youre pretty much set.

www.gapwork.com

Depends how long you want to work for, and what type of work you are after.

I can recommend being a seasonnaire - work on the campsites during the summer, and the ski resorts over winter.

Also try Canvas Holidays and Family Ski Holiday.

so please don't blame me if they are worst jobs in the world.
Grass isn't always greener on the other side as i discovered spending a year on costa del sol.
I never moan about cold weather anymore.

Most summer / seasonal jobs are aimed at students who want a summer away. I used to do camping seasons. I would work my ass off all week and get £100 and a tent to show for it each week. However, faced with a summer in Sheffield or a summer living next to the beach, it was not a hard choice. I've learnt how to bodyboard in Northern Spain, been shopping in Venice and supped Cocktails in Biarritz. The £100 covers food and beer, you will never make a profit. If you want a job that is going to pay all year and pay well, you will need to look beyond the gap year / summer job options.
