afternoon all,

i'm off to Canada in 2 weeks and i'm expecting to take a couple of days in Montreal. I was wondering if anyone had ever been and whether they could recommend any cheap/budget hotels?

I've searched on't t'internet for hotels, including lastminute.com, opodo etc and not really come up trumps.

Any help on 'must do' stuff in Montreal would be most appreciated also!!

Cheers

I recently returned from Toronto where I stayed in the Halls of Residence at Toronto University. Was a bargain and included all you can eat breakfasts :)

Maybe Montreal University do the same thing? Think the students aren't back until the end of Sept/early Oct so you should have time.

Failing that try www.britishexpats.com

The forums there are fantastic - really helpful people.

good luck

Depending on what you're looking for hostel accomodation might be the best option. Otherwise you should be able to snag a Super 8/Holiday Inn Express/other generic hotel for £30-40 a night. The problem is that most of the budget hotels like those are on the motorways and major entrance points to the city. Once you're downtown Montreal it's going to cost you.

Fantastic city though! One of the best in the world :)

I've not been to Montreal but when I was in Vancouver I stayed in youth/travellers hostels which offered a range of dorm rooms / twin rooms and single rooms at very reasonable prices.

Take a look at
