Cheers. :help: Try the Harley. jake 20-11-2006, 23:06 If you like real ale - the Hilsborough Hotel may be worth a look - its a few miles out towards Hilsborough(!) but on the tram tracks - so 10 mins into town - the view out the windows wont win any awards - but its a nice pub inside (though not too rioutous) The Rutland in the city centre used to do rooms as well - nice beer garden (though maybe a bit chilly in December), decent beer and good (if a bit stodgy) food. Halibut 20-11-2006, 23:12 It's hardly 'a few miles' out jake, scarcely a mile out of the city centre. It's quiet but has an excellent range of beers. Not tried the food myself, but the place has an air of understated quality about it. AlBal 21-11-2006, 08:44 The Psalter Tavern have rooms, its a great pub/bar and they serve lovely food too. Meaks 21-11-2006, 08:53 The Hillsborough Hotel comes recommended. Ousetunes 21-11-2006, 10:14 The Fulwood Inn has accommodation. It's also a top boozer serving excellent food, has plenty of parking space and is relatively easy to find. JohnM 21-11-2006, 10:51 It's hardly 'a few miles' out jake, scarcely a mile out of the city centre. ermmm - I walked past it on my way home late on a cold wet friday night and its seemed alot more than "scarcely a mile" - maybe it was the rain... tinsel_ninja 21-11-2006, 10:58 ermmm - I walked past it on my way home late on a cold wet friday night and its seemed alot more than "scarcely a mile" - maybe it was the rain... But it's on the tram route, and is a good boozer. It's the one that popped into my mind too. Meaks 21-11-2006, 11:03 Then of course there is the Farfield... :hihi: happyhippy 21-11-2006, 11:28 If you like real ale - the Hilsborough Hotel may be worth a look - its a few miles out towards Hilsborough(!) but on the tram tracks - so 10 mins into town - the view out the windows wont win any awards - but its a nice pub inside (though not too rioutous) The Rutland in the city centre used to do rooms as well - nice beer garden (though maybe a bit chilly in December), decent beer and good (if a bit stodgy) food. The Rutland Arms, Brown Street, City Centre (not to be confused with the Rutland Hotel) still does accommodation. nick2 21-11-2006, 11:32 I think the Hen & Chickens used to do rooms Bilge 21-11-2006, 13:44 Then of course there is the Farfield... :hihi: Ha Ha - don't stay there whatever you do. Don't even drink there. In fact just forget all about the place. Hillsbro Hotel would be a good choice. whatkatydid 21-11-2006, 20:11 The Hillsborough Hotel is a very clean, fairly upmarket real ale pub with accomodation, I understand it to be reasonable priced and the food is very good. It has parking and is on the tram route. About one and a half miles out of the centre. Think they have a web site. samc 21-11-2006, 20:46 Cross Scythes at Totley? Badgeman10 21-11-2006, 20:51 Cheers for all the replies. I have booked me and the wife in at the Rutland Arms in Brown Street. Regards Andy suzicollings 21-11-2006, 23:26 The harley is really central, on the tram route (by the university stop), has a late bar and nice rooms, it's clean and friendly, and does a mean breakfast! happyhippy 22-11-2006, 02:31 Cheers for all the replies. I have booked me and the wife in at the Rutland Arms in Brown Street. Regards Andy An excellent choice! The beer is great, and the food 'hearty'. Hope you enjoy! Meaks 22-11-2006, 09:03 The Rutland aint what it was. Rich 25-11-2006, 11:24 I'm coming up to sheffield late December with the wife and looking to stay in a public house that has accomodation. Meaks 26-10-2007, 07:54 You may laugth, but all I can say is watch this space ..... Ralf is dead, long live the Ralf? :suspect: Halibut 26-10-2007, 08:16 You may laugth, but all I can say is watch this space ..... It looked even more derelict and shabby than usual last time I went past. It's hard to tell with the Farfield, but I think it was actually dead. Ged303 26-10-2007, 09:03 Yeah, try the Harley, good food, nice rooms, great booze and top music. 5nil Wal 26-10-2007, 09:37 try the queens on hillsborough. |
