After two years or so my laptop battery has given up, so I called Toshiba about the price of a replacement. Sat Pro M30 BTW. And it's great.

£114!

I was stunned but should I have been expecting this kind of price?

And, while we are at it, does anyone know how I can stop the restore disc from deleting my partitions when I use it. My ancient Sony, now deceased, used to give me an option.

Can I just install a normal version of xp? OK, I won't have all the additional tat that gets bundled, but would the drivers in xp be adequate?

Thanks for the link fox, but I've had bad experiences with 'compatible' batteries for other kit before, so I would buy genuine.

Edit: having said that, they may be genuine. Will inquire. Thanks

yes you can, it probably won't have the correct drivers for your machine so go to the tosh website first and download all of them, then dump them on CD and install them from that
