View Full Version : Leeds Festival: Who else went?

I just back from a sleep deprived weekend at Leeds festival, still on the come down from excessive pro plus usage and vodka consumption.

I was curious as to who else went, if anyone? Who were your top 3 acts? If I had to pick I would have to say:

Green Day, Jurassic 5 and Flogging Molly were my faves, though special mention must go for the GLC (clart!) for being the funniest thing I saw all weekend, except perhaps for one of my friends harassing a guy as he walked through the camp site, only to feel really bad about it a minute later and trying to find him. He spent 3 days talking to everyone who wore the same band shirt the guy had done apologizing profusely for his irrational outburst.

I was there, for an hour and a half. It looked fun, but muddy.

MC5 were by far the BEST.
Thought I should make the effort, as their won't be too many chances to see such an influential and pioneering rock band.

I went sceptical, mainly because of the original singer not being in the band and watching old men hang to rock can be a little embarrassing.

But it was a real treat and anyone who did'nt have a peek really missed out.

80's Matchbox B Line Disaster were my 2nd.
I feel like I should swear to get across how inspired I was, but will refrain?

My 3rd goes to Razorlight.
Again went into that one thinking I knew what I would be getting but was really suprised.
I think that they will be headlineing next year, watch this space.

damn, I missed the MC5 after seeing the New York Dolls and thinking 'naah, they're gonna be just as bad'. But everyone says they were brill actually. Hey ho.

White Stripes & Fiery Furnaces were magnifico, a peteless libertines still damn good, GLC funny, Jurassics mighty fine, pretty sound all round. Thought Morrissey was very poor tho.

And managed to meet someone who was a photographer for Radio 4. Bizzarro.

I went for the saturday. The Darkness were amazing. They're now my favourite band, its about time a rock band put some fun into their music instead of taking themselves so seriously. GLC were funny as hell! The DJ's from Jurassic 5 were out of this world, the bass nearly knocked my teeth out! Ash and The Offspring were good as well. Also caught The Wildhearts in the radio 1 tent and Dirty Sanchez in the comedy tent on our way out. It was a good day all in all.

Why not? Could be for the website, or was this a radio 4 joke?

Didn't go this year getting fed up with festivals although I wanted to see Green day and Morrisey

hence the 'bizarro'! should have pressed hgim for further details, but was in no state to do so.

Said bloke was also named after a character in a Star Wars book - not even someone from the movies!

I had to sell my ticket for Leeds, whilst at V. Finances and other stuff meant I couldn't go. I was really gutted as I thought the lineup looked cool. Did anyone see The Cribs?

just to point out Radio 4 are also a band (a very good one IMHO too) so the fact they had a photographer is much more reasonable than you think.

I just remembered about Dogs Die In Hot Cars on the first day, they were amazing too.

I didn't rate Razorlight that much, but I also thought Franz were a bit of a let down.

I think that the bands I went for with no expectations were better, probably for that reason though.

Mike Wilmot in the comedy tent nearly made me slam my head into a pole i was laughing so much, he was brilliant and I hope he is on tour round the country.
