View Full Version : Thank You to the person who shot my cat
uncleheed 30-08-2004, 19:28 I would like to thank the muppett who took an air rifle out and put a pellet in my cat on Friday.
Today I had to take him to the vets to be put down.
We found him on Saturday night, all lethargic and immobile. After laying down all day Sunday,he seemed to perk up.This morning,he could hardly move ,so we made the decision to take him to the vet.
The vet found the pellet, and informed us that euthanasia was the best option,as treatment was not a guarantee of his survival.
Mrs Heed was really upset, but the worst hit were the kids.I had to explain to my 7 year old daughter why her cat was not coming home again.
Once again, thank you,you moron,I hope you are proud of yourself.
You have my deepest sympathy. It's terrible enough to lose a pet, but to lose it for such a mindless and heartless act only makes it worse.
My heart goes out to your family.
I am really sorry to hear about this horrible act. As a cat owner - I do have worries about the cruelty that may be inflicted by people of mindless nature.
...why is there no measure of control over the idiots who can buy air rifles and use them in this way??
miniminch 30-08-2004, 19:54 I am sorry uncle.
Do you suspect foul-play?

Is that supposed to be funny:huh:
Im sorry to hear that...
All us cat owners will know exactly how you feel.
i really feel for you all, especially the kids,we lost ours through old age 18 years ,and it was really upsetting,i hope you find the people responsible for doing this,i wouldnt be responsible for my actions, theres a lot of people out there who hates cats, what gives them the rights to live,i hate quite a few people but i havent shot them, its a shame they didnt shoot themselves.
genesiscouch 30-08-2004, 20:46 Did this happen on your property or while the cat was roaming?
:(
Gutted for you uncleheed.
We have five cats. One we bought as a kitten, one we took in starving and three of her kittens. If this happened to any of ours we'd be devastated.
Whichever dumpling in power allowed air rifles to be legal and outside police control ought to have one shoved up his/her nose and fired.
feel for you uncleheed! i've only got the one cat and he doesn't go out! he's not used to the outside anyway because he's a persian and knowing the idiots round here they would probably pinch him! i love my cat to bits and would be devastated if anything happened to him! the idiots who did this should be put down themselves!
I am trying to balance sympathy with anger here
I must take after my father, the only time I ever saw him lose his rag uncontrollably was with an animal cruelty case..and I daresay if I had been present at this event you would now be reading about my court case for murder in the Sheffield Star.
I do hope your obviously much loved companion finds peace
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Sorry to hear that uncleheed; we lost our youngest cat on September 3rd last year and we were devastated. Tom just dropped dead in the street, so it was very quick with no suffering.
There's an idiot near here who has been known to take shots at animals; the police wittered on about being unable to do much about it. Had this moron taken Tom I'm not sure that my adherence to the rule of law would have been maintained. It comes down to societal tolerance; we put up with these idiots as a society because our so called leaders are keen not to be seen to be upsetting the ones they consider to be 'have nots'. Liberal guilt is a dreadful thing to have in people in power.
The only thing I can say is that it will start to feel better again eventually, but even now there are days when I half expect to see Tom crashing through the cat flap dragging half the garden in with him, shortly before he moults fur all over the place.
Our thoughts are with you.
Joe
Uncleheed, what can I say? With three cats of my own and having had several before I know what you're going through.
Don't let this put you off giving a home to other cats though as there are many more out there looking for a loving family to adopt.
This is awful, sorry to hear the sad news. Words cannot describe what should be done to the perpetrator/s.

The exception being that they 'have' a gun which very few of us feel the need to own unless its for proper sporting use. It beggers belief. :shakes:
A few weeks ago I saw a bunch of kids.. hang on, thats a whole
new thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16254) I think.
Moon Maiden 31-08-2004, 08:09 sorry about the loss of your cat and in such sickening circumstances.

DaBouncer 31-08-2004, 08:14 I hate animal cruetly, there is just no need for it what so ever.
What does someone gain from hurting an animal which does nothing but give love to its owners and mind it's own business?
I don't own an air rifle and nor do I feel the need to.
This individual needs finding and shooting with his own rifle serveral times (even that's not enough).
It really does sicken me people who feel that hurting an animal is ok. Are you going to be attampting to track this person down? I know it wont be hard, knowing the amount of places cats roam, but worth a try at least.
Good luck mate!
LittleWitch 31-08-2004, 14:07 My deepest condolences, Uncleheed. Me and Mr Witch have a big old neutered tom, and if anyone evr hurt him, I wouldn't be responsible for what I did. :(
Just a thought, but have you considered giving the pellet to the police. I know it's a long shot, and doubtless they'll do nothing about it, but maybe if it's a persistent problem they could run tests on it (DNA etc) and maybe find the perportrator that way?
Not much you can say but sorry to hear about the terrible thing that happened. I myself am a cat owner and pets become as important to us as close family members and I would be gutted if my cat were to go through the same.
uncleheed 31-08-2004, 16:58 Me and the heeds would like to thank you all for your kind words.
If any of you know if there are any kittens that need a loving home, please let me know.
We are not trying to replace Rocky, but we need our cat in the house.

Good luck and we expect piccies.
Beastieboy 31-08-2004, 18:02 Sorry to hear about this Uncleheed.I'm not a cat owner but have had several pet dogs and I just can not understand how anyone could do this to an animal:mad: But it's so easy for people to accuire these weapons and others from certain shops that I refuse to go in because of this.
I hear people jokingly say they are buying such guns to keep the cats from the garden, but now I start to think they are not joking at all with the sad fact they can go to town and buy one no problem, no questions asked.
Is there nothing anyone can do to campaign against the places that sell these? I'm not sure on the law with replicas, etc.
For years I have joked with my mum about her keeping the cats in at night, Now I can well understand why. She's worried that they will get shot at, fireworks thrown at them or kicked an abused.
Sorry to hear about Rocky UncleHeed..

alchresearch 31-08-2004, 19:36 This is very much a cat loving forum.
As as cat lover with five of my own, my thoughts and sympathies are with you, as are my thoughts of slowly torturing the moron with the pellet gun.

Good Idea.
We are shocked that someone would hurt a family pet for kicks, society behaviour is getting steadily worse. :(
