Today we went to Donna Nook to see the seals as it is the time for them to pup. There were loads, and some right up to the fence. They will be there for another weekend or two. We went 3 weeks ago and there were none. See picks attached

Donna Nook is at North Somercotes, between Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe.

if you zoom in once on link. (i think it will work)

It was lovely down there at 8.30 this morning, but cold. If you are going to go i would suggest getting there as early as possible as it was getting busy when we left about 10.30.

P.S. It is a bombing range, but they don't do at weekends so you can get access to the beach then, though a fair bit of it is sectioned off during pupping time.

Stunning pictures, well done. I've not been for years, but it's convinced me to make the trip!

No you can go anytime in the next 2 weeks (then they move on), we didnt go on the beach we walked along the edge of the dunes. Though on a weekend you can walk out on the beach but you have to be aware of the tides as there are some big sand banks out there. I'm not sure you would get much closer to the seals out there and you have to be careful not to disturb them.

Just while i remember there are no dogs allowed on the beach atm, even on leads.

The cafe thing in the car park is very welcome for a cup o tea on return to the car. She does a mean bacon and onion sarnie as well.

Did you have a good zoom on your camera Fuzzy or can you get quite close to the seals?

I do have a good zoom, but not fantastic (x12 apparently), but there are so many and some are right up to the fence that you are on the other side of that you see some anyway. Like this one, i had to hold the camera over the fence to get it. http://static.flickr.com/113/301070196_019ba01942.jpg

That is amazing fuzzy, how beautiful they are, thanks for sharing those lovely pics with us. Seals always make me think that they are giant sea slugs... pfffft!

How anyone could want to hurt them is beyond me.

I went to see them in 2005 and was amazed by it. My photos of this "event" can be found here (http://www.simoncutts.fotopic.net/c780034.html)

I went yesterday and it was absolutely packed, Only stayed for 90 minutes though because I was bursting to go to the toilet and there is no toilets there, (serves me right for having 2 cans of coke on the way). The seals are great and come right up to the fence. It is better to stand next to little kids though if taking photos because the Kids mimick the seals, which causes the seals to look, so you get the photo of the seal looking at you. The wierd thing is, they look so sad and sound so sad too. I have put up a couple of photo's on my web site, with more to come.

I am going again next weekend so I can stay longer but I am definately going earlier. I have read the seals are there from the end of October to the end of December.

Unfortunately it will not let me put my website up until I have 15 or more posts.

Gald you went and they are still around, we go over that way again in 2 weeks and i'm not sure they will still be there again. Though a bracing walk down the beach will do us good anyway.

Look forward to your photos.

It really is amazing how close they get, isn't in??
