Reading the Independent (still - hey its the Sunday one itr takes time to get through!) I found an article on the top universities in the world (research carried out by Shanghai University) of which Sheffield uni came in 69th. While that may seem a long way down it in fact number 7th in the country behind Cambridge, Oxford (both of whom have more money than god!), Imperial, University College London, Edinburgh and Bristol. All in all not a bad result I feel :)

Yeah I was happy with that, but a little surprised as it often rates lower than that on the domestic ratings.

There was a storm of controversy at the time around the study you refer to though so I'm not sure what was made of it in the end.

What Uni are you talking about, There is only University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University in Sheffield, which one are you on about ? (no doubt Uni of Sheff)
