Can anyone suggest where I can find a shop (laboratory suppliers/ home-made beer and spirits equiptment suppliers/ whatever) who would have cork bottle stoppers with about a half inch diameter - they are needed to stick up the bottom of two old (1930's) salt and pepper pots that I wish to give as an Xmas present.

I've tried cutting some used bottle corks down to size, but it just doesn't seem to work - so, as a last resort, any tips on how I could do that would be welcome.

Tomorrow I'll try sharpening the edge of some 15mm copper tube and using that as a cutter in a pillar-drill - maybe , just maybe that will work.

Don't think you'll have much luck slicing cork stoppers, - try cutting what you need out of a thin cork tile. Dunno if B&Q will sell you just the one ;)
