i bought a memory stick for my computer the same one as iv already got in, but when i slotted it in, my computer just wouldnt work, i took it back went to a differant place and got another one to find out that its doing the same!!! am i doing something wrong or is my computer nackered... its not even 2 years old yet so dont think it will be that.... anybody got any advice :suspect:
would you know things like your motherboard type, your cpu type, etc or do you need help finding out these things?
its hard for us to help to tell you what you should have bought (and therefore if the things you have bought should have worked) if we dont know this stuff :)
There are billions of ways a computer wont work!
Depends what it does? Does it give an error? Does it crash on load? Does the computer not boot up? Explain what the computer does and we can get an idea why it wont work..
Im guessing the same as LL200, compatibility.. Is it the correct type of RAM for the motherboard? (ddr, sd etc..)
well at first the screen goes blue saying theres an error so i restart it sometimes it happens again or just looks like its starting up then stops then starts!!!!!
can you tell us what error it is? do you see any windows logo before the error appears?
Issue with RAM and incompatibility can be many things. If you Google it u'll find out. It could be to do with the frequency, your BIOS settings, and reasons could go on and on.
Does the computer start? Will it get to XP boot screen and then bugger up? Or not boot past the beep at all?

have you tried just the new stick on it's own?
The memory is no good mate simple as that ,your computer works with the same type of memory already installed,am i correct?
you add an identical memory stick.computer doesnt work?
either that memory isn,t compatable or it is no good.
Take a light bulb out and replace with another and the only way it wont work is if its a dud!
Similar sort of scenario.
Hope this helps.

dose it turn on at all with the memory in ?
i know pc's with large amounts running FAT32 formated OS/HDD will not turn on.
Also have you put the memory in right way around , may seem a stupid question but i've had peeps bring me PC's where they've forced ram in and snapped off the lugs and splitt the ram interface.
the only other thing i can think off is then the Bios if you've say set the FSB to 400htz and your putting 266htz in, that will cause your pc to hang.
To clear that is to set bios to defaults then place the ram in the pc.
