View Full Version : DWP downloading Porn clamp-down
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-13205429,00.html
I've read that there is a backlog of claims for people awaiting pension queries. Is there any wonder if this is what staff are up to?
It would seem that things have moved on from the unauthorised use of telephone for making personal calls.
The headline in one paper was
"Ministry of Porn"
Shame on you lot, I hear a lot of them also look at some disgusting site all about Sheffield.
Sicko's:loopy:

It would seem that things have moved on from the unauthorised use of telephone for making personal calls. Civil Servants of course do have permission to go on the net however the rules are tightly squeezes on downloading.
If you download this material through your works PC then your asking for trouble or just plain stupid.
I agree with the stupidity statement.
Perhaps if someone IS that stupid they shouldn't be civil servants? After all, I like the country to be run by people who are at least vaguely intelligent and have some competence about their job....
:)
miniminch 29-08-2004, 17:16 Why does the media always lump all porn into one catagory Porn= disgusting/ perverted/ child abuse! The Sun shows off the breasts of teenage girls on one page and rants and moralises on the next.
Heres what I think (a-hem) Porn, like drugs, has many guises, some horrible and corrupt, some not. FFS if I worked at DWP I'd be MAKING porn in the office rather than downloading it just to keep my ****ing eyes open until if was time to go drinking!! What a **** boring job those poor guys have. Let them watch porn. Put on free shows for then I say, I feel so sorry for them having to work for thoses arses in the government. Porn can be a good thing. Watching two people enjoying sex can be a liberating thing rather than the grubby seedy affair that The Sun wants us to feel so it can slay more victims for using it.
To say that porn leads to rape is just stupid. Some adults lust after kids therefore there is child porn not the other way round IMO
This is all so I've heard. Being a good clean Catholic boy I am yet to lose my virginity!!

Having been a civil servant I can assure you that they work for the public not the government. :loopy:

So when I was handing out all that money to struggling subsistence farmers in NZ I wasn't actually helping the public? Sounds odd to me and yes, I did sleep well at night thank you.
It amazes me that people still think they can get away with downloading porn online while at work. How many people have been fired for this over the years since the introduction of the internet into the workplace?
What's the big deal anyway? Is it worth the risk of losing your livelyhood just to see a pair of boobs and a bit of sex? If they're that desperate they should buy a video/magazine/dvd and watch it in a comfortable environment (with the standard box of tissues) where they don't have to worry who's monitoring their activity and looking over their shoulder.
That doesn't mean it's an approriate use of work time and systems though.

Phanerothyme 29-08-2004, 20:41 I am amazed anyone could download anything it all. When I worked for DWP quite recently the net nanny frequently banned its own intralink sites, let alone an external web page.
When you could get an external page with images, it took so goddam long to open, you'd close internet exploder and do some work to relieve the tedium.
miniminch 30-08-2004, 09:48 Q.Why don't they let public servants look out of the window in the morning?
A. Because then they would have nothing to do in the afternoon
GIVE THEM PORN!
Internetowl 02-09-2004, 10:52 What gets me is the most senior members of the 'ring' have escaped the sack !
evildrneil 02-09-2004, 11:01 One of the companies I worked for had a much more liberated attitude - it was quite allright to look at porn so long as a) you got your work done and b) if you found anything REALLY good you had to pas it around for the rest of the office to enjoy!
I had one job where I had to activly look for porn... checking that links to other sites were safe. Funny thing is, though, some adult material was OK so long as it wasn't hardcore etc, so I had to scan through masses of pages just to check it all !!!
Trust me, it became quite tedious.
