Well I've met new people, made some friends and now have a more active social life. I also get to go out walking in a group every weekend instead of on my own, and go to the theatre with people and for meals.

Who'd have thought it when I made my first tentative steps posting that I'd become walking group leader and such a pain in the arse that I'd be banned three times:)
Anyway, I'm off for two weeks but I will miss the place:)

Jabberwocky 16-11-2006, 23:26 Its turned me into a psychopathic killing machine. Fortunately sitting here hour after hour has also turned me into a physical wreck so I cant use my new found talents on anyone.
Apart form the cat...
Don_Kiddick 16-11-2006, 23:36 What has SF done for you ?
Originally i was looking for Jumbo - the Chinese buffet, a google search led me here.
Since then I've met loads of people some fab like Viking, some beligerant & spitefull whose name I won't even spit out.
Most of all it's given me a damn good laugh - spesh being stuck at work when things are painfully quiet.
Taught me the proper spelling of "Rovvrem". Cheers Don

Other than those those drawbacks, what has the Forum done for you?, apart from Sanitation, Aquaducts, Roads, Central Heating etc?

Harleykim 17-11-2006, 08:02 I met my best friend here, about 6 months ago...she's great :)
Janny you're the best! x x
kittenta 17-11-2006, 08:46 SF has made me stay up late, not get the housework done, prevented me from doing my college work, annoyed my other half .....:hihi: Got loads of helpful advice, stopped me annoying myself as I can now annoy everyone on here :D and all that in 3-4 months great isn't it
SF has made me stay up late,
Oh God yes, the number of times I've been on here until 1-2am then had to get into work for 7, looking like death warmed up :hihi:

and if i can't sleep, instead of getting a drink and going back to bed, I come on here, which means I don't get any sleep  but it's worth it :D My other half tells me off for it though, he says he going to put the computer chair in the bedroom seeing as i'm glued to it :hihi:
What has the forum done for me?
- Apart from occupy a lot of my free time
- find my first flat
- find me several fantastic friends
- give me an active social life before fleeing the UK for Ireland
- somewhere to sell my old junk
- somewhere to buy old junk
And to top it all, the forum found me my future wife.. So thanks very much
Godzilla 17-11-2006, 10:35 The Forum has helped promote the work of Sheffield Retired Greyhound Fund;
I've been put in touch with reliable and inexpensive tradespeople to get jobs done;
And now that Taxman's social life has taken off big-style, it's the only way I can catch up with his news!
Given me a reason to live!

BasilRathbon 17-11-2006, 11:35 Turned me into a spiteful and bitter old cynic, hunched over a computer spitting bile at anyone who dares to have a different worldview to my own.
Apart from that, it's been great......

Oh, Yes, I forgot to mention that. Its helped me a lot.
Discovering the forum helps me to relate with the Sheffiled as it is today as against how it was when I left.
It makes me laugh mostly but I can also cry with some of the sad things that are posted.:)
It gives me little rewards as I get through the daily chores, like, "I'll just do this ironing then I'll have a look at whats happening at home" it also gives me an excuse to leave off now and again and have an excuse to sit down for a rest.
After the response when I posted on DK's tsunami thread about my son being in Japan, it shows that people,.. strangers out there really care and that if I did have a problem I would certainly get support enough to deal with it.
Most of al, conversing with like minded people, it shows me that I haven't changed much really and that I am still a pretty normal "Sheffield Lass":hihi:
Also the help I have had with technical bits as well....I could'nt have got from anywhere else how to post photos and links even if I haven't dared to do it yet...not publicly anyway...Thanks again.
Long Live Sheffield Forum:thumbsup:

fox20thc 18-11-2006, 15:53 Well its been a big support for all the charity work down my way.
The festival wouldnt have been half as good without the contributions from here, volunteers, stewards (purdyamos & Ghozer) , godzilla and taxman with the doggies :P Cargo and Bringiton with music (though some didnt approve of the volume :hihi: ) Lickable with the design skills.
you are all great, even Meaks and K turned up (late) to show support :P
Other than that I have lots of 'virtual' friends and will make more of an effort to get to meets in the new year.
_Kirsty_ 18-11-2006, 16:02 Met loads of fantastic people... and some not so fantastic people.
Ms Macbeth 19-11-2006, 11:18 I found the forum by chance when I google'd for some info last year. I'd just moved to Sheffield, and its given me a feel for the place. Its the only time I can sit at my pc and laugh out loud (usually at DonK or Jabbers). :hihi: They bring the unexpected! Other people's opinions can also make me think about my own?
The forum has also sadly shown me that there are still people who lack humour, (they miss so much) and also some who lack a basic understanding of much at all. :suspect:
Smithster 19-11-2006, 11:26 This forum helped me a lot when I first moved to Sheffield when I was looking for a decent place to live. I have lived here now for 2 1/2 years and more recently the forum has put me in touch with some club promoters which has helped to launch my DJ career.
Oh and I also got my cat from an advert on SF.
Thank you Sheffield Forum.
Well, where do I start. I found my flat, got the boxes to move house with, have met some new people, have learnt a lot of things (some worthwhile, most not), shared pet stories, got breaking local news well before any tv/radio/news websites have even began to write the story. Filled hours of boredom at work, found new staff at work, had help with computer problems, (again at work) been cheered up for things :( cheered people up for things ;) got things off my chest which I otherwise would not have been able to, and sort of kept in touch with some old friends, although there dark sides were very prominent on the forum and they have now been banned :D so can't do that anymore. Is there anything you can't use SF for? by the way, please can they have a third chance if they promise to behave? :|
Edit, also made me laugh and cry.
pattricia 19-11-2006, 12:01 Oooh no, I'm not THAT brave:hihi:
Joan why dont you join me next time Im on.? Its not too bad at all, lot better than I thought.
