No matter how busy street force are they always seem able to make time to annoy Hillsborough traders> This trader anyway is it personel it certainlyappears so. How is it that yet again my advertising is the only item to be removed from Hillsborough today. It was'nt even touching the pavement so not an accident waiting to happen. It was'nt even fastened to council property but they in their wisdom decided to take my advertising material. Every other A board or street advertising was still there but mine had disappeared. Was it something I said ? Middlewood Road is awash with litter of all discription but it must be easier to jump out of a van and remove advertising than it is for them to do the job that I actually pay my rates for

I'd be very tempted to write, phone and even send them a few photo's to them via e-mail and ask for an explanation. Just make sure you get a name so in future you can ask for some-one in person. If your advertising was not on the pavement and not attached to a lamp post then ask them to come out and look at the site and explain what the problem is.

When you complained about this earlier you got some good advice about other ways and means of advertising but obviously didn’t take it. As the owner of a business you must have some sense, but to put your A-board out again, and additionally not bothered to seek any official advice as to where and where not to site it, is in my opinion just plain stubborness of your part. And as for paying your business rates, don’t we all! But paying them doesn’t automatically allow you to do whatever you want regardless of any regulations to the contrary.

I think it's rather fishy that each time this happens, it's only your a-board that gets taken, and no-one elses...

I'm finding it odd that this is an almost identikit happening/ post to the last one.

As peterw said, you were advised, and advised well, last time you complained. I do not see you acting on the advice and information that was supplied.

I personally pointed you to the relevant page on the council's website, which explained the reasons for the crackdown, and set out the date (almost 18 months back) when the order about the banning of a-boards came into force. We explained to you, in detail, that the boards are a tripping hazard, and an obstruction, and that is why the council are stopping them off.

Hand on a minute. Before you all jump on smilehair, wallbuilder is spot on. If it's not on the highway, or other Council property, they have no right to touch it, never mind remove it.

You need to clarify it with them smilehair.

On the other hand, if it is on the highway or other Council property, or if it is a hazard to pedestrians, they have every right to remove it. A grass verge between pavement and road, for example, will be Council property. All my immmediate neighbours know that, and those with A-boards have sought my local authority’s permission to park A-boards there. But they are restricted to placing them as close as possible to trees!

to put your A-board out again
If this is the business/board I suspect, its in no way a hazard at all - and there are others in the vicinity which certainly could be classed as so! :suspect:
