View Full Version : Degree !!
YEY!!!!!!!
I have just found out (very last minute) that I have been accepted onto a degree course at York Uni !!
The reason for my excitement is because I have no previous experience of the course I am doing and no relevant qualifications to do it, I just passed the interview.
I now feel quite proud of myself and my self worth has just gone up 100% (not that I have no self worth).
Is this usual practice? If it is then my self worth will be adjusted accordingly to 50%
Well done and so you should be pleased and excited with yourself... congratluations and all the best...
Phanerothyme 28-08-2004, 12:36 wtg Bonny, what's the course? You gonna be commuting?
Congrats Bonny ! Don't know what the criteria is but Im in the middle of applying for a part time degree myself, Im finding the form difficult never mind the potential course content!
Of course mine all depends on the outcome at work and total costs of it all..

Its the "steiner / waldorf early years education and childcare BA hons degree"
Yeah will be commuting but also working in a steiner establishment as part of my degree so it classes it as full time.
I'm quite pleased as I have always been a bit of an educational numpty!

Sam Miguel 28-08-2004, 14:17 I got my pschology GCSE result yesterday, I got a 'C'. I am very pleased with this as I put the minimum amount of work into it (It was my last worry) due to adverse work circumstances right through last winter and the spring.

I'd say that was a good result too in the circumstances then!
Well done you !!

Sam Miguel 28-08-2004, 15:20 Thank you very much everyone. I am contemplating doing the 'A' level next but might consider buying the certificate online and bumming it through the winter instead.
No, I couldn't do that. I want to do the next level.
Yeah, thanks all for the kind words.
I am currently basking in the golden glow of "my good day".
:D
1Man&hisBMW 28-08-2004, 15:37 ....but lets not all get too excited now. not all courses will let on students where there is a demand and good supply to put backsides on seats so to speak. York is a good uni, although in a comparatively expensive place.
sad thing is peopleget excited passing the interview, sometimes because they just need to fill placs of they have to stop running the course. don't let it be an indication of things to come (ie. a walk in the park) approach it seriously and you shall be rewarded oh newly recruited one... (to the student ranks)!
I did approach it seriously. I had a place on a course in London that I turned down for this one. So I have been through the ranks with the interviews.
Thanks for the advice though, I know it's going to be a slog but my motivating factor is that I NEED to do well as I already have a job in 4 years time that has been offered to me and they provided great references for me. So you see I can't let them down and I realllllllly want the job.
The job I want also has the potential to change my childrens future prospects. So it is a serious decision.
1Man&hisBMW 30-08-2004, 23:33 Congrats on it all, and the +ve approach.
If you need help from a fellow student, dont hesitate to ask.
You will probably find Pinders in town a valuable resource too!

I went to my induction at Plymouth Uni last week.
It seems that at least 4 people are already opting to drop out from the course after these few days.
Maybe that was just being tired though as we did 8.45am to 9.30pm for 3 days.
