my boss who really hates paying all his staff!!!!has payed our oct wage at £5.05 instead of £5.35 per hour,he owes us all around £30 each, but is telling us it should have been taxed so plans to include it in next mth wage instead of giving us the cash, some of us earn less than £100 a week so there should be no tax any way, can anyone give any advice that we can throw at him.thanx

What a plonker I've had this happen to me in the past he should give it you when your owed it and you shouldn't get taxed extra thats just wrong:rant:

Depending on your contract (do you have one?) your employer can be said to have made an illegal deduction from your wages.

If he is going to make good the shortfall, there is not much that can be done.
You can threaten him with going to an employment tribunal, but do you really want to?

You can also insist that he makes an additional payment to cover the lost interest due to late payment.

Any tax that is overpaid can always be got back, but the matter of lost interest comes into the equation, again.

She won't be taxed extra, it'll be at exactly the same rate of deduction she pays every month.

The employer is going by the book. He could be better organised and raise a payment earlier than next month, but if company policy is to add it to the next months wage he isn't actually doing anything wrong.

They are a legal requirement! This employer sounds like one of the worst.
