Congrats Dave R...whoever you are own up. (wonders how many will claim to be the real DR) Damon 27-08-2004, 13:20 Can I second that request to see the letter up on this forum? In my corner of the North West, I can't get hold of the Sheffield Telegraph....... Cheers. pietro 27-08-2004, 19:01 Dave Ruder Writes: I read with growing astonishment the article by Peter Russell in the Sheffield Telegraph that purpoted to be a personal choice of 10 websites, from a list of 500 or so, that were "most useful" to him. The implication of the article was that these sites would also prove useful for others (otherwise why publish the article?). Every single regular internet user in Sheffield that I know of reads or contributes to www. sheffieldforum.co.uk. It provides an invaluable resource to over 6000 members and countless guests who simply read the website without registering. With dozens of areas devoted to a wide range of both Sheffield related and general topics. Sheffield Forum has a growing and active membership finding new ways to make the Forum work for them. This bottom up, rather than top down approach not only plays on the strenghs of the medium but provides far more information of actual use, rather than the reams of largely useless data that floods out from the other sites listed. It is without question the most useful Sheffield related website. If what you want to know isn't on it, you can just ask. Hear ,hear! Moon Maiden 28-08-2004, 08:43 Originally posted by Dug ..... and would the real David Ruder like to stand up? I don't think it is really appropriate to ask this person to stand up do you? A large part of forum life is anonimity(sp?). Not everyone registers here with their real name...jobs involved and all that. Let us just thank the articulate fella for taking the time out to write a letter that puts readers of it in no doubt as to how useful the site is. Moon Tony 28-08-2004, 08:44 Agreed there on all counts Moon. The letter was tops! Cheers David, you said what lots of us think. Sam Miguel 28-08-2004, 08:53 A very well-written and credible letter indeed. The Sheffield Forum is undoubtedly the best local website by several hundred (or even thousands) of miles. As someone points out, if you don't know it, you just have to ask. Besides that, it's a whole lot of fun. Viva el Sheffield Forum! |
