Weird call accusing of being with woman last night, someone just phoned the shop in a temper accusing me of being with his wife last night. I said he had the wrong number and that it was Spooktacula, which he replied he knew where and who I was. I was with my GF last night all night and told him so, I ended putting the phone down on him as he got in a temper. Tried 1471 but his number was with held. Quite scary in a way.:( :huh: :confused: I feel quite concerned now this has never happened before.:(

It will probably be one of those prank calls that are recorded..

There are LOADS of different ones thats going around.. My other half had one the night before last and it was a recording of a woman saying that she'd met him in the pub the night before and she'd told him her wrong age...
It was a friend of his that had sent it him..

I also had one from a so called taxi firm and this (recorded)fella was ranting down the phone at me for wasting his time by ordering a taxi when I didn't really want one...lol..

They do sound very convincing because they even leave pauses in between where they know you'll be saying "I think you've got the wong number" and so on and so on..

I'm not sure how they get hold of them but they are funny when you realise they are just a joke..

If he hasn't tried to ring you back then i'll bet it was a wrong number or someone ringing any old number winding people up.
If you put the phone down on him he would have rang you straight back without a doubt if he was that mad.
Did he mention your name or say where you were at? if not then dont worry about it too much.

It might have been one of those prank call things and someone has set you up. You ring some number and a recorded prank rings one of your mates. I've heard one with some bloke shouting about being with his wife. It kind of guesses your responses. If you don't say anything, it still says e.g "I don't care where you say you were"

If he rings back say out loudly " Switch the recording tape on now" !! He will drop the phone like a hot brick. If he doesnt say "I hope you realise that I am recording your calls" Get ready for him though.

you can get those prank calls now where it is actually a real person ranting at you, whoever has set up the prank can also listen in on the call but you don't know! but i'm guessin if it was a mate who thought it was funny they wouldn't have been able to keep it to themselves very long and would have phoned u up by now to see what u said about it!!

We had one and hubby answered it then passed the phone to me & I heard half of it. Same thing the guy accused hubby of being with his gf and said he knew where we lived and Im sure he mentioned something about either breaking legs or knee capping. It did sound very real and I reported it to BT but there was nothing they could do as the number was withheld. Me and hubby were concerned until a few weeks later a guy from his work had the recording on his phone. This guy from his work did not ring us as he did not have our number but told him that the people who may these prank calls half the time either guess numbers or just pick one out of the phone book.

Now I am over the shock I am convinced its a prank and I am convinced I know who it is and its about time they grew up and left us alone. :mad: Sheffield Paranormal is here to stay.

u ever heard about that phone call setup thing u can get my mate has sent it to me before n i played around with it sending it to lads i know and it sounds so real.

I had this a couple of years ago, I received a series of very offesnsive texts accusing me of being some girls ex - started with 'you can't just F!!! me and chuck me' and as I replied with wrong number the language got worse.

I replied that one more I would call the police and mobile provider - next day a very apologetic text ended with 'you know what men are like'. From the content of her text, I don't think I do.

Even if its withheld there might be ways of tracing it through the line provider - they will put you in touch with the Nuisance Call Bureau if it occurs again.

I got a nuisance call in the middle of the night a few years ago.

Sounded like a guy on a mobile with a woman laughing in the background.

He kept saying "I know where you live" all the time and as I thought it was my brother arsing about I replied "And I know exactly who this is".

The bloke put the phone down in a split second and I never did find out who it was or who he thought I was.

Sufficient to say it wasn't my brother!:D

My husband had this a couple of years ago now! Really freaked him out cuz they were threatening to kill him if he went near his woman again, really spooked him out!

I once had a call from a woman in Paddy land on my mobile saying I had been phoning and texting her mother, no idea how she got my number rang 02 to check that they hadn't hacked my number. I know I can turn a choice phrase but her language had me almost blushing lol. And it was definitely an Irish number as I checked the number that came up on my phone with 02. :loopy:

I recieved a phonecall the day before Christmas Eve last year, from someone who claimed to be from Hammerton Road police station, informing me that my husband had been found dead - he was actually sat right next to me! Some people are sick with nothing better to do then to upset people!

Sadly, there are people who get a kick from this sort of thing. I am friends with a number of people who volunteer for the Samaritans, and apparently there are also people who ring them up regularly and refuse to hang up (so taking up their phone lines meaning that people who are genuinely in crisis can't get through). Obviously the people in question get a kick from it (some quite obviously so) because they repeatedly do it to the point that the volunteers recognise the voices and the time of day at which it happens.
