ok. You've all met them. Every office has got one. Theyre in every local pub. They think they have the right to talk to you in a supermarket by displaying this fact. You know what I mean. Those people who tell others "I'm a bit mad me", or, "eee, I'm wacky", or "watch your back, I'm a bit of a card, I'm off the wall"

No you are bloody not!

Because you own a pair of Postman Pat socks, or cook at a bbq with an apron with false breasts on the front or wear a tie with Homer Simpson on it....does not make you crazy!

No. The opposite. Apart from what you perceive as a quirk, but alas isn't because you got it from Burtons, you are boring as hell. You are one of thousands of middle of the road dullards that thinks THIS makes them....craaazzzzeeeeey.

Phew. Is it just me who thinks this?

Yeah, take for instance my mate Kev. He wears his hair all over the place, eats extravagant kebabs, gets completely off his face and reckons he's dead wacky and crazy... but we all know that he's really a middle-class suit wearer from the Home Counties.

One thing i cannot stand... People who think & act like something/somebody their not!

I think its sad (as in upsetting) people have to be someone their not... just to be in with 'The crowd' so to speak...

Just be yourself... people will like you more for who YOU are... not for who your NOT!...

(should i climb off now?..... my soap box!) pmsl

Its the quiet ones you should look out for - when was the last time you heard a serial killer referred to as 'wacky' - its alway quiet Mr jones from next door, kept himself to himself, very quiet and polie - would never have thought it of him etc!!!

What about the people who think they are normal and dull who are considered to be mad by everyone else? The problem here is more down to misunderstanding and it works in both ways.

I have a mate who people love to hate. His heart is in the right place, but he just gets everything hopelessly wrong. Personally I think that gives him character even though he can be frustrating.

But the office pratt could just be lonely. Trying too hard can be misinterpreted as trying to be wacky. Everyone has an image of themselves and that's what they try to be like. Some don't conform to what everyone else thinks is cool.

People who are wacky and sad - and I don't mean emotionally... the sort mentioned in this thread, well they're usually harmless.

Now on the other hand, what about w###### like Chris Moyles? He has to pay people to be his friends on air. Why...?
...because he's not a very nice person. And the powers to be at the BBC think he's a good chioce for the breakfast show? He is the bullied fat kid with a microphone. I've resorted to Terry Wogan, who's actually quite amusing!

I saw this program on TV last night about this Russian Nuevo Riche chap who'd conned millions out of his Russian comrades. His house was disgustingly brash, and all he could talk about ware his things and how expensive they were. He was trying to be a new aristocrat.
His house looked like a Disney hotel, only without the quality that you get using craftsmen. The doors were huge but the hinges were MFI standard... that sort of thing. It was all a show. But we never saw any of his friends. There was never any reference or evidence that his friends were even important to him.
Now That's trying too hard and sad AND at the expense of thousands of Russians who are poorer now as a direct result.

This being said - the office wannabe wacky person is still undeniably dull unless bound upside down to a stake while having the soles of his feet branded with multiple images of a smiling Mickey Mouse.
Now where's my soldering iron?

You've thought far to much about this - you aren't by any chance a quiet, polite individual who keeps himself to himself *worries*!!!

You'll notice that Mr E has gone quiet all of a sudden and is indeed keeping himself to himself.

Watch your backs people...

Cereal eater, me…
Kellogg’s Frosties – Mmmm. But why're they going to ruin them by reducing the sugar frosting? They should introduce Frosties Light.

I know at least 2 self proclaimed 'crazy' people...

I dislike both.

One says 'Heh i am crazy me... a bit like a ninja'

I have no idea what this means, but it just makes me back off slowly to the nearest exit...

The folks who give the warnings are usually pathetic attention seekers. It also gives them a 'get out' clause for bad behaviour - after stapling your jacket to your chair they'll then go in to the 'Oh, can't you take a joke?' schtick.

In a few places I've worked it seems that some people with 'outrageous' dress or behaviour are only outrageous in the ways that won't risk their position; never expect one of these people to back you up in 'grown up' issues, because at heart they're usually company men (and women) through and through.

As a contractor I get allowed some slack when I go in to a new place, but basically in most respects I have to be productive and behave as per the office norms if I want an extension. Many 'office jokers' get away with murder because the rest of the office can carry the odd bit of dead weight.

Right...better go and get teh day job underway....:)
