View Full Version : Local free newspapers
Emily_1344 13-11-2006, 09:12 Hi,
I'm trying to advertise a local charity event and I'm quite new to Sheffield. I was just wondering if people could let me know of any local newspaper names in their area - including the free ones you get pushed through your door. Thanks!
sTaGeWaLkEr 13-11-2006, 09:22 Don't forget to use the forum to promote your event.
Have a look through the sections available and find one suitable for you.
Good luck.

fox20thc 13-11-2006, 19:11 Well we have a Look Local Journo on the forum who is always after a good story.
As is the star if you tell them..
Does the Sheffield Journal still print?
...I live on an estate full of stairs, so I usually get one every five or six months, before the deliverers realise it's not worth their wages to troll round this estate. :hihi:
Sreffield gazzette
That might be what I'm thinking of. When you get one issue every six months or however often, you don't bother remembering the name :hihi:
The Mercury will take anything, they usually distribute to pubs and clubs.
I was once taught that if you create a 'good news story' you will get a FREE editorial in ANY paper, but in an ideal world you need the Star newspaper to run it as that is where you will get the most feed back.
Make a good story of how you are helping the community and how you came to Sheffield try to make it Sad or exciting but NOT mundane and ordinary.
