Hi,

I'm trying to advertise a local charity event and I'm quite new to Sheffield. I was just wondering if people could let me know of any local newspaper names in their area - including the free ones you get pushed through your door. Thanks!

Don't forget to use the forum to promote your event.

Have a look through the sections available and find one suitable for you.

Good luck.

Does the Sheffield Journal still print?

...I live on an estate full of stairs, so I usually get one every five or six months, before the deliverers realise it's not worth their wages to troll round this estate. :hihi:

Sreffield gazzette

That might be what I'm thinking of. When you get one issue every six months or however often, you don't bother remembering the name :hihi:

The Mercury will take anything, they usually distribute to pubs and clubs.

I was once taught that if you create a 'good news story' you will get a FREE editorial in ANY paper, but in an ideal world you need the Star newspaper to run it as that is where you will get the most feed back.

Make a good story of how you are helping the community and how you came to Sheffield try to make it Sad or exciting but NOT mundane and ordinary.

Also the "Active 8" monthly free magazine in Sheffield 8 always seems keen to promote charity events - I think their offices are on Hutcliffe Wood Road.

We only use the trader for cleaning our shoes on! Its that bad!

I live in Dinnington. The Guardian is great because it actually has news in it. Costs 50p every Friday.

Both Published by the same people.
