I'd appreciate any advice anyone could offer regarding selling their home via a Property Auction and if anyone has had a good experience selling this way, I'd love to hear about it.
Many thanks

View Full Version : Advice re Property Auctions please swanny 12-11-2006, 14:04 I'd appreciate any advice anyone could offer regarding selling their home via a Property Auction and if anyone has had a good experience selling this way, I'd love to hear about it. Many thanks babychickens 12-11-2006, 14:34 i'm going to a property auction on 23dr nov, but i've not sold my house that way or been to one before. it is quite exciting, though. i'm a little suspicious of why someone would sell their house by auction, though - it strikes me as something you do if your house needs a lot of work that only a property developer is likely to be able to finance. obviously you should sell your house the best way you see fit, but it does worry me slightly (i'm not paying for a survey on a house until it's likely to be mine, and don't really want to buy one until i've had the survey). do-a-bull 12-11-2006, 17:24 We usually buy about 1-2 houses a month through auction and it is a highly effective way of buying or selling property as the property is effectively exchanged that day with legal completion 28 days later with both parties tied into the deal. Although auction prices do tend to be about 10% less than OMV, a house in a good location will often sell at near market value so IMHO this is far better than a long drawn out sale with an EA. Often perfectly good houses are put into auction for a quick sale. swanny 12-11-2006, 18:47 Many thanks to you both for your replies. Yes, it does worry me that someone may be suspicious of a home being auctioned when infact it could just be that a relationship has broken down and a quick sale is required. I will certainly find out more info and consider it. |
