Anyone got any feedback on Haybrook estate agents? Seen plenty of info on here about Blundells but couldn't find comments on Haybrook.

Haybrooks were one of 4 estate agents I had round to value my home. Their presentation was excellent, very informative. I went with them but have since had to chase them up for absolutely everything. They didnt actually do what they said they could do in the time they advised. After 2 weeks of compiling notes to back up why I was going to throw in the towel with them, I had a couple of viewings and offers so I have stuck with them. Fingers crossed things do happen for me now.

If you are prepared to keep on their backs and you dont need a fairly quick sale, they are ok.

I also put an offer in on a house at £10k over the asking with Haybrooks. My offer was not accepted and the house was sold. Then the house came back on the market and the last I knew when I rang was the highest offer was still £8k less than my original offer. They didnt come back to me and keep me up-to-date as requested and now the house is sold.

I know estate agents get a raw deal from people, but what can they expect when this behavour is common place.

I arranged a viewing of a property through a different estate agent at a vacant property. They didnt turn up or ring me. When I got hold of them they said the guy had broken down and they couldnt book me in for another time. Guess what...... that house got sold before I got anywhere.

Tried to sell my flat with them, bloody useless. Kept having to phone them up to get anything done, they didn't get photos on the website until the day before I wanted to stop giving viewings.

Don't go there.

I sold my last house through Haybrooks. I can't fault them. The house was on the market, with the board up, on the same day that they valued the house. They kept me in touch all the way through the process with updates on offers right the way through to final sale. If I was thinking of selling again, I would use them.

stop using estate agents, there is no need, Sheffield now have 2 private house selling companies to help you.

Another shameless plug for your company eh Caron. ;)
And to those thinking of advertising yourself, remember Estate Agents DO serve a useful purpose.

All the poo jobs you don't see the agents doing (not just selling your house) you'll have to do when you advertise your own house.
Not necesserily a bad thing, but remember the work load is higher.

selling privately is not for everyone, but its there for the people who know their property will easily sell, or who need extra support.
The internet has revolutionised many industries by cutting out the middle man, its now happening in the property business.:)

Agree with Caron, there is alot to be said for DIY house selling.

Should be even easier with e-conveyancing (UK Land Registry) and sellers packs having all the survey / valuations details in already. Should make the process alot smoother in the long run.

In our experience Haybrooks and Atteys the solicitors are best avoided.

Bad service, demotivated staff.

Bad, very bad.

Its good to see 2 people agree on everything at the same time.
People would think you knew each other. :D

we have sold our house through blundells and personally i wouldent recommend them to sell your old car absolutley useless, we have had to do all the chasing up, but i dont think they will forget about there £2k fee. we have bought through haybrooks and compared with blundells they are second to none, every house we have viewed through them they gave us a call to see if we wanted to put an offer in and they have been on the ball every step of the way with the house we have purchased. i would most definetley recommend haybrooks.

We bought through Haybrook. Far more professional than Blundells.

Blundells told me I had requested the details for too many houses!! The cheeky .................. If I'd lived in Sheffield I'd have been knocking on the doors of the houses I couldn't have details for and telling them what was going on!!!

My experience is that most estate agents get a large fee fordoing very little.
The problem is that most people get very stressed when they are selling a house( as I do).
The speed at which things move is dictated purely by the vendors urgency to move things on.

All the agents have their own individual problems.
i do not have time to list them all now!.
I see the way forward ..If agents do not all get their act together, there are companies out there like really moving .com that really do provide an excellent service and in 2 years time will have the corner on the market, I am sure

Try property plus they were great at selling my house, they were there for me around the clock and took the stress out of it all for me, i think its important to have a few different valuations though to get a good price, what do you think? Would ou go for the highest valuation?

I just bought my house through Haybrook and it was a great experience. I bought from a gentleman called Jack Lucas and he was very professional, motivated, always being in communication, efficient, patience and polite. He recommended a Haybrook mortgage broker called Paul Robertson for us to get some advise and I am impressed with his knowledge about the market, very professional and efficient. I highly recommend Haybrook.

we are with haybrooks and no I would not reccomend them from day one things were wrong brochure etc and we had to chase them up ,as for contact i have found they only ring when they are arranging a viewing never to give you feedback i have to ring them and then they sound vacant and I have to give them details of our viewers and at last i get feedback, they say there way of selling is called pro-active not so sure what this means but think they could do with a dose of pro-plus,thinking of changing to another estate agent because it is getting too stressfull now with them.

It probably differs from branch to branch but we used them about 3.5 years ago and wouldn't be keen to do so again. We were off the market for about 3 weeks after accepting an offer. They said everything was progressing fine. When it turned out they hadn't actually heard from our buyer since they put the offer in. It was only after we pushed and pushed that we found this out. Pretty poor really. I would have ditched them but after I removed the sold sign from the board in our garden someone who had viewed previously saw it and knocked on my door the same day. We ended up selling to them.

Exactly. No normal punter would post tripe like that.

They are all useless. They charge you a fortune for doing not very much in a very incompetent way.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing but, I know someone who bought a house last September using Haybrooks as the agents and Jack Lucas was their representative.
As the buyers lived out of town I was involved on their behalf and I was extemely impressed with Jack, he always did exactly as he'd said he would do including 'phoning at appointed times, his service was faultless.
So, the thread may be 6 years old but, in this instance it's up to date information about an employee of Haybooks (Ecclesall Road).
